VoodooShark's V2 Buttz Build

Nice build VoodooJef. You've pretty much built what I have on my wish list for my 2012. Nice to see the numbers you were getting on the BNRS4 with the stock block. Though I'll be trying to stay south of 400hp/400tq since do DD my car and want to stay on the stock block as long as I can.

Thanks, it`s a solid build that didn`t put me in the poor house (which was the goal LOL).

I`m a torque junkie, so pushing the tq up was a risk I knew I was taking. It`s actually pretty easy to build up 400hp/360tq and it`ll last all day on stock block if the tune is right. I DD mine as well, but I also bought it knowing I would eventually build the motor with forged internals. That just happened to come up six months before I was expecting it to. The goal is still 460ish, and the very last datalog I took had her at 462 on vdyno (mind you I do NOT endorse taking vdyno numbers very seriously). The math says those numbers are justifiable, so the shops going to dyno it after the break in and see where we`re at. If it`s close I`m not even going to touch the tune (output wise), other than to dial it in for the new motor.

Long story a little less long: car was supposed to have been "done" two weeks ago. Showed up to pick it up last week and they noticed it had a fuel leak that turned out to be a defective/faulty/failed injector seal (brand new set from an established source. Won`t go into the brand unless warranty is an issue). It`s supposedly done now, but I`ve got a buddy and his family at my house since their neighborhood in Houston was evacuated so I haven`t gone out there to pick up the car. Probably going to go pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

You know we're going to need to know which seals you bought, right? End the never-ending battle!

Like I said, I won`t disclose it unless there is an issue with the manufacturer. I will say this, though: I went against my better judgment and got the seals that were more recommended vs the ones that I originally wanted. I`m willing to defer judgment until I can see for myself.

my guess based on reputation, knowing they were bought from, is that it was some sort of installation error...not properly torqued or something. we'll find out!

Always something with these MS3's.

I've had the thought I could've gotten another stock engine MS3 and run it ragged for the same cost (without the headache) of having mine rebuilt. I had 163k on my stock motor. I see them on craigslist for 8k pretty often.

OK so since you cant say what seals you bought can you say what seals you "originally wanted" to go with that you didn't?

CPE is loose as a goose and need goop..
CS is soft and seals well with torque so re-torqueing / reinstalling or over torquing will cause them to quit...
PTP welll ther ptp..
Sure seals ... lololololololol
Toyota is hit or miss but is ok given there price. Giving the "ima let it ride before i call them out" makes me thing there CS seals. And if so they weren't put on right.

I`ll say this much about the CS seals: a local heavy hitter (640whp kinda heavy hitter whom I am personal friends with) ran the CS and reinstalled them at least three times, even had to pry one out and they did their job every time. I know of two people personally who didn`t have an issue with CPe. I`m not ruling out the shop putting blame on the product to cover their ass, hence why I don`t want to go broadcasting until I have them in hand and can at least make a reasonable assertion. I`m not gonna put the shop on a pedestal because to be honest there have been a few major communication issues since it started that caused some major and entirely unnecessary delays. Class and decorum, right? We already know how build threads can turn into a witch hunt and while I`m all for calling out who needs to be called out, I`d like to make sure it`s warranted first.

Fantastic! Update us once you guys recover from mother nature and have good fuelz available again!

Holy god, the day has arrived. picked the car up earlier today. It's running very well so far. Too bad we don't have any E85 or premium fuel locally but hey, it keeps me from hooning around every corner.
Finally!!
Mmmmmmm e85 i still remeber my first bt e85 map... I saved my stained underware! There hanging up in the garage to remind me what awesone was like now that i have no more mods to do.

She's got about 250 mikes on 'er and running like a champ. Even though I paid for a full dyno break in I haven't leaned on it too hard yet. It's idling lean and fuel trims are way high (+) and no vacuum leaks, but adjusting mafcal values has made a big difference so I'll be moving forward with the tedious process of maf logs today.

Bring her up to Arkansas. Here for the hurricane and bored as f. I'll drive it for ya

Roughly 500 miles on it. The idle/afr/fuel trim issue is resolved and it's running remarkably well. I'll be swapping the ST manifold on sometime next week. Gonna turn up the tune just a little bit over the weekend and then just let it rip and dyno tune it next week after I get the mani on.
