What did you do to your ride today

grabbed some Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's (Brisgestone RE-003) at Firestone yesterday during their presidents day sale. The deal is $100 off a $500 purchase. The tires actually came out to $501, so $433 out the door for 225-40-18. So far so good.

Do they stick worth a crap lol. Looking at getting a set of 17's real soon and will probably need a decent but cheap tire to balance the cost.

One of the benefits of going 17s is you'll be paying a lot less for tires anyways. I love my Michelin Pilot Super Sports, BTW ;)
For DD'ing, I wouldn't use anything else.

They're well-rated on tirerack, FWIW. So are Sumitomo HTR Z III as far as reasonably priced, performance oriented tires go; I picked up 225/45ZR18s for $100 apiece last summer.

PSS's are not cheap in any size, hah.

I loved my PSS tires and the Indy 500s are no where near as good but I was tired of dropping $800-$900 on tires every year since I was commuting the car 25k+ per year and majority of the time in the car I'm sitting in traffic.

We'll see how these firestones hold up but so far no complaints and I have a little over 1000 miles on them

PSS are amazing everyday performance tires, but yeah so spendy. I will probably try something else when mine wear out.

I've found that they last so long that the price is offset. If you do a dollar/mile calculation, they actually are very reasonably priced, comparable to other tires that don't perform as well in many ways.

I'm going to second the indy 500s. My Hankooks lasted about 15k miles. The Firestone have near 6k and still look good.

My Bridgestone Potenza S-04s only lasted 18k. Michelin PSSes look like they're going to go double that. And if they don't, I get a prorated discount on the next set :D

Just FYI.... get what you like.

Love my PSS as is the consensus around here, when I went to switch to snows I noted a bludge in the one side wall....Looks like I'm picking up a new tire come spring.

Ugh, that sucks, mine have seen several trips to the dragon filled with ludicrous cornering. I've not noticed any bulges, but now I'm going to look real close at them when mounting back up this spring.

Manufacturing defects occur. And bulges can happen from turning/backing into the sides of curbs (or other incidents, for example), putting forces on them that they're not designed to see. Good news is you'll probably get a new tire, maybe even completely free (no tread-depth proration). Defects generally occur much more frequently on cheaper/lower-quality tires, though.
