What's the name of this part? Is it what's causing my weird idles?

Hi all, new here.

I have a 2007 speed3 with about 127k miles.

After about 30mins of running or when car is warm, the car idles weird in neutral with clutch off ONLY. The rpm in idle bounces up and down, but doesn't happen when clutched in. On my Cobb AP, I have an CEL P0850 - Park/Neutral Switch...

I looked under and found this(shown on image below) on driver-side and was wondering if this is what's causing the CEL? If so, can someone tell me the name?
Is this the Neutral Safety Switch?
Is this the part number I need to replace it with - GC02-17-640B ?

I'm not sure what part that is exactly but you should probably just go to the Mazda dealership and have the parts department pull up the exploded view of the transmission. You can then point out which switch it is. Someone on here may know.

I take it if you're in first or any other gear the idle is ok? Only neutral is affected?

The actual neutral safety switch is a white plug on my speed 6 and is by the clutch arm under the dash a bit. Mine went out and I bypassed it with a paper clip so it would still let me start my car. It also starts in neutral now without the clutch being depressed which is nice.

If there is enough wire to put a bit of solder on it I would try that and put it back together. Might not be permanent but you'll know if that is the issue I would say

Could you by any chance send me the parts # or maybe a picture so I know what it looks like?
It's directly above the steering shaft. Here is the white plug and where I modified it lol

That would be the clutch switch not the neutral position switch.

I think I will try to go with replacing the clutch switch first since it's cheap and seems easy to get to and see if that clears the code. Then maybe try with the neutral switch on the transmission.

Still no luck in finding out what that switch is that's on the image. Not really sure yet where the neutral safety switch is or if maybe that is it in the image.

You need to replace the switch on the transmission first. It's clearly broken. Not sure why you'd replace a part that you are unsure is broken or not. But hey it's your money
