    Another piston soak "success"

1,000 mile update. I had an initial loss of about 1/3 quart when I checked the level after 100 miles. The dipstick read around 3/4 from the full mark. I never noticed any smoke so I’m not sure what could have happened. Topped off the oil and haven’t had a drop of oil burned/consumed since. The...

    Another piston soak "success"

Just wanted to share my experience with the *new to me* remedy for some people who have had the common issue of oil consumption/burning. I'll start by saying that anyone here hoping this is your go-to answer, you should explore the more common problems like pcv valve, bad turbo, etc. For...

Issues after EGR delete/OEM injector replacement

Did you do a smoke test? I know you said you checked for loose clamps but pressurizing the system and either smoke testing or spraying soapy water on all of the vacuum lines and clamps will give you a better indication of a leak. Did you replace the injector seals and intake manifold gasket? I...

    Disabling cold start?

Looks like you have a couple things to work through! If it makes you feel any better, I had an irregular random misfire code that would come and go for years. I tried everything to get rid of it and pretty much decided to ignore it after a while. At some point it went away on its own. Haven’t...

    Disabling cold start?

If you've confirmed wiring and the injector isn't the issue, i'd move to the coil packs. Try stretching the spring that makes contact with the spark plug. Be careful as the springs may be on the fragile side. If you've verified the coil packs are good, i'd guess its time for a compression and...

Why cant to PI & TMIC?

I would just give Corksport a call. I'm sure they have done some R&D and can tell you if PI is possible with a TMIC. It's highly likely that they've got the information.

My visit to Mazda Showdown 2023 @ CorkSport

I’m bummed I didn’t go this year. I’ve gone every year since 2018 and it’s always been a great time. Looks like a good turn out this year!

    Newly acquired 2007 MS3

The rattle could be one of the pulleys. I would check the idler pulley as that is a common failure. The low tone with a little bit of a rough idle is also not uncommon. The previous owner could have either deleted resonators or added a test pipe or something along those lines. None of which...

    Need FMIC Advice

I would take a different approach than what you’re going for. If you have the turbosmart bov I’m thinking of, it’s like 4 inches tall and is sort of obnoxious. Instead of making the intercooler decision around the bov, why don’t you install the front mount and see if the turbosmart bov fits. If...

What did you do to your ride today

I used the chemical guys v32 compound with their orange cutting pad followed by the v38 polish with their white finishing pad. I have a torq random orbital polisher. Before I got this car in 2015 it spent most of its life in Sacramento California, and I believe the previous owner didn’t keep it...

What did you do to your ride today

Quick Clay bar, compound, and polish. A little bummed the paint is faded and won’t be getting rid of the old emblem shadowing. Doesn’t inspire much confidence in removing the side moldings but I’m happy the paint brightened up a bit!

    Ecu issue?

Well it turns out the temp sensor I swapped a few months ago was in fact not oem. All of my issues and codes (P0126 & P0118) have gone away after installing a new oem sensor. I normally make sure I’m buying oem stuff for parts like this, but this ended up being one of many parts installed that...

    Ecu issue?

Yes I forgot to mention I replaced the the thermostat and ect sensor at the same time. Both were oem from what I can remember. However I did go back and try to find my order from rock auto and can’t seem to find it. I had suspected this might be from not buying an oem sensor. I’m going to order...
