302 Miata Time!

I have been doing some research on this motor setup, and it should be around 260-280 whp and 300+ wtq.

Lol I wouldn't like it
Too bad you can't get a transversely mounted MZR DISI in there, setup and tuned to about 400whp. That'd be an all-Mazda built blast!

Nice looking setup. I'm doing an LS swap myself. Lot of fun, lot of money though. Building your own subframe or going Monster kit by chance? Lots of info over on v8miata if you haven't (obviously) figured that out yet.

Glad to see another MS3/ V8 miata guy. As fun as an L3-VDT in an MX-5 would be, seems silly compared to 8 cylinders, especially when it fits so perfectly.

Nice! Yea def a lot of money! Well worth it at the end though! Tbh I really don't know yet. I will get most of the parts from Martin. I'm going to attempt to modify my subframe and see how that goes, along with the trans mount. Yea, I have been reading a lot on v8miata and very fun build threads and lots of info! How far are you on your build?
I wouldn't want to put another 4 cyl in a miata even tho that'll be badass.

Looking good Ozzy.
I still daydream about building a Disi-ata one day. 'Stock' 260hp is more than double stock Miata power. That would probably be plenty for me to start with. At least while working out the bugs.
And it would be different.
An Ecoboost mustang already has the manifolds pointed the right way though.

It would be different, sure, but I've been in a 300hp 1.8, its really not as fun as you think. Its a riot, no doubt, but very involved, IMO. Not sure about the DISI swap, you'd be best with a 2006+ NC for that swap since its similar, but the firewall is apparently in the way of the fuel system, which is why the NC Mazdapseed MX-5 was never a go, would require re-crashtesting. SO they said, back in 06-07. I'm sure it could be done, actually, by now probably has.
NA/NB, an FE3 swarp would help for low end torque, but it is really involved.

Basically, a 5.3 is an economical, lightweight, torque as hell option, If I could do it all over again, I'd have done the 5.3/t-56 option.

My build is on hold, but I have pretty much everything ready to go. Waiting on exhaust and wiring. Rear end is in, engine is in, trans is out though.

I actually stay awake at night thinking about all of the cool projects i could start with the mustang 2.3 ecoboost. its a perfect solution to a performance boost in so many old cars.
