Basic Brakes

For the noob in me and the others.
Looking to do a full brake job soon. Needs excellent DD duty with ability to handle the twisties as chances permit.

I have the Yellows, no squeal. Friends run the Reds and I have never heard them say anything about squeal but not sure. The reds are cleaner but that's not important to me. The Yellows are near track pads for the street.

I use the Premium Centric blanks with StopTech street pads, StopTech braided lines, and ATE Type 200 fluid. Excellent for the street, pretty decent for aggressive driving in the twisties. Not as much initial bite as the OEM pads however. I'm thinking about giving the EBC Yellows a shot for the next set though.

current setup....
ATE Blue fluid (substitute with any premium fluid)
Stainless braided lines
Centrc blanks
EBC Reds
rear still stock pads and rotors

Ran this setup on MULTIPLE dragon runs with much success. Very street-able and setup good enough to push the car. Zero noise. With that said though...I've found myself wanting more brake after adding a bunch of horsepower and plan to update the setup soon.

I have the bendix qo pads. They are quiet very little to no dust. Similar initial bite to stock. Seem to be a little less performance overall but certainly suited to some spirited driving.
[doublepost=1455239039][/doublepost]Oh plus they are like twenty five bucks

I have used reds for years now. No squeal, low dust, great bite. I would not switch

Where do you suggest looking for combo deals at for the best price. So far ebay is the cheapest I have found on ebc pads and rotors. I think I saw ebc yellow and slotted rotorsn for around 300

Rock Auto has the best prices for StopTech stuff, so if you're not necessarily interested in slotted rotors the Centric blanks are pretty hard to beat for the price. I've yet to find "performance" rotors for cheaper than there aside from some of the no-name brand stuff off eBay or Amazon. No combo deal there with EBC pads though, I'm not sure the best place for those.

All around.

Damn. That seems like a pretty damn good deal from what I've seen. I paid $300 for StopTech lines all around and Centric blanks/StopTech Street pads up front, so you'd be getting better pads and the rears for only another $177. I say do it.

I have used the following on my MS3:

OEM (have used on street, track, and for autocross)
Hawk HPS (street, track, and autocross)
StopTech Street Performance (street and track)
Hawk DTC-60 (track only)
Carbotech XP12 (track only)
Carbotech 1521 "Bobcats" (street only thus far)

Of those above, I'd probably recommend the StopTechs. You obviously don't want a track pad, and the Carbotech 1521s are too expensive if you're not running them to save time/effort on rotor swaps while running Carbotech track pads to make much sense...

The Hawk HPS just doesn't feel as good and the OEM pads (while not bad pads performance-wise) are also too expensive and dust like Hell.

I've never used EBCs on this car, so I can't comment on them.

Lots of good info and reviews.
Sounds like centric rotors and yellow stuff pads will be the way to go for DD duty.
