Hello speed folk, just here for some advice on the work I’m about to crack into. In the past, the day I drove the speed 6 home when I bought it, it blew up a block from my house. After a year of working on a ski hill still in high school I made the mistake of getting a jdm engine (60k miles and 2 oil changes). Granted since then I’ve put 20k miles on it but it has its issues, (and I don’t trust pushing stock power numbers on it). So I have recently bought a used, built engine with a whoooole bunch of spare oem parts (Facebook marketplace). The guy put 10k miles on it until it misfired and blew a chunk of the exhaust valve into the exhaust. When I bought it, he had already replaced the rod bearings and arp studs, the block still has cross hatching on the cylinder walls so I felt comfortable buying it. The block has weisco pistons, Manley rods, egr and balance shaft deletes, and a spin on oil filter conversion. Among many other random parts, I also got the intake valve that he ported and deleted the flaps (forgot what they’re called lol). My plan is, because I don’t entirely trust his work, I plan on atleast replacing the rod bearings and studs, maybe even installing new rings, and ditching the balance shaft delete and putting one of my spare ones on. For the head, I think I’m going to pull the head off my first engine in and getting it rebuilt and resurfaced. For exhaust, I plan on getting a bnr s4 or s5 (s5 if I decide on port injection down the road), corksport catless downpipe, and maybe the corksport exhaust manifold though I wouldn’t mind stock. Otherwise I already have a fmic, and a 3.5 short ram intake. I have already rebuilt my transfer case but I didn’t install the billet caps so I want to get that done, still need rear dif mounts, and an upgraded clutch. Where I need advice is, what steps do I need to take to make sure I don’t miss ANYTHING that could lead to major problems down the road, at what point would upgraded axels be necessary, and I guess just everyone’s thoughts on what I’m about to bite into here, any advice helps.
