I was walking though a junk yard and saw a straight body CX-7 with all the bells and whistles parked with a price tag of only $1600. No paint fade or pealing clear coat. Complete vehicle, nothing missing. Without even thinking too much on it, I made a lowball offer of 1,000 and they countered with $1380 which I accepted and put a deposit down.

I was told the engine turns over fine but just won’t start. Their “mechanics” tried to get it to run, but couldn’t so they listed it as a blown engine. I cannot wait to get this home tomorrow, and dig into it. I hope it is something simple. We will see. I even gambled and did this without a VIN check.

I tried to take pictures of everything, but my phone died before I could finish. Here are a few shots that I did get.

Seriously. I too was a little bummed as well. Dead ones are preferred since I like my hookers like I like my Twinkies... frozen

Crossing my fingers all 4 will have compression, but you are more than likely correct which would suck. But that mean this this will be getting a built engine.

Anyway, last night my better half and I were talking and I was telling the wife what @Easter Bunny said in my other build diary about me needing an intake. She said. “Any part you need to buy for my car(This will be the wife’s Daily) take if off your car and buy your project car the new parts you need, I will pay for it.”

Btw, I think I laid in cat piss at the salvage yard. I smell horrible! Great...

Talked with @Speed Solutions LLC Last night about getting a quote together for a mild build in the likley event that this engine has shit the bed. Nothing too crazy, Chris said the block will be good for about 450 ponies, which is perfect for the CS turbo I will be running.

I reached into the hole under the oil cap amd fingered the opening. The timing chain was extremly loosey goosey. Also, took out a plug and looked into the cylinder, and I can see shinny specks on the piston. And the plugs look like hell. I will take some close up shots with my insection camera and see what yout all think. Oil level was above the fill line and has a very wierd smell to it that I cannot identify. I just hope this bock is not completly trashed, Needs it for a Core.
