Building for the road course...again

What year range do you need and what specific model? I can check here in the US and see what I can find

So,

I installed the larger throttle body motor back into the large throttle body...i had never before tested to see if it would actually work with my car.

Went for a bit of a drive yesterday and it seems to be good! we are back in action planning to hit the track on monday!!

So what i would need would be a 2006-2011 civic SI throttle body. It seems like the larger motor(correct motor for this 70mm TB) is working well with my car so far. Hopefully this is it for throttle body messing around

dead throttle body motor, we can spot the failure here,
Can see some burnt marks. Some electronic dust

Broken wire. This is one of the power pins wiring. There is only 2. Power/ground I guess. One is broken. I moved it so it’s more noticeable in the pictures but that connection was open when I took the motor apart. I can see where it was soldered at one point. Over heat my guess? Too much demand for the undersized motor?

I believe the technical term is "letting the smoke out". Definitely an odd failure mode. If nothing looks super melted I'd try to mend it.

It appears it can be resoldered. I have one other motor that also failed but I haven’t opened it up yet.

This one got a little damaged when I opened it up. Will inspect the other one and if it’s the same failure then that’s an easy fix and I’ll have a spare.

Spent yesterday preparing my buddies Hyundai Genesis 2.0T for the track day on Monday.

oil change
Steel brake lines all around
Basic track pads up front
General brake service and lube all around
Brake fluid flush with motul 600

Brakes are going to be a concern. Car weighs 3340lbs and makes ok power ~190whp ~200wtq so it can get up to speed. The brakes are the weak point. They’re known to be underpowered. A larger brake kit will be coming over winter.
Car also already has Hankook rs4’s, HSD coil overs, and a track focused alignment(not too aggressive but more aggressive then oem)

weather is calling for 32c feels like 40c on Monday at the track. I won’t be trying to push for any personal best, it’s just not gonna happen.

I’m going to spend the day having fun and mostly helping out my buddy. He’s been on track once and did all of two laps before he lost the brakes and that was last year lol. He needs help and coaching for sure

Successful track day! 38c heat(100f). New personal best by 2 seconds even though I told everyone I was NOT pushing for time LOL. This is a quick lap specially given the conditions.

of course another complete total idiot in his brand new 911 turbo. Unbelievably slow. Ignorant. Pointed me by first session after drivers meeting but 0 point bys for the rest of the day. I had a talk with him. He played ignorant and dumb. Hate that shit.

anywaysssss it was a great day! That one PB lap was spicy for sure. Far too hot for any ideal laps but somehow I got it!!

genesis did well!! Despite 260f oil temps after only a few laps. Brz saw 250f. I saw a max of 215f

This is grand bend modified layout. My last video was the same track but a different layout. I haven’t driven this layout since earlier last year

I left a lot of easy time on the table I feel. Low corner speeds in places where I know more could’ve been had. It was challenging as it was so hot. Tires did not have much in them in the way of forgiveness. Soon as you make a mistake that’s it tires fall off. Need to cool down. It was different!

Engine felt strong still even considering the heat. Maybe down a little on power?
Grand Bend Motorplex Modified layout - 1 Lap with the Civic

Spoke with a few of the fast guys in advanced group. Seems they were on pace or slightly behind my own pace. Definitely going advanced next time. So sick of getting stuck behind slow idiots.

overall happy with how the car performed given the temp. This is a quick lap and there’s easily 1 second in it. That’s not easy given a sub 1 minute lap time. Extremely hard to find more time on such a short lap!

Civic understands it’s assignment well.

Guess that’s what it is lol. Usually I can make enough gap in the corners that the straights and power don’t matter

What is it with Porsche drivers and not moving over? Had a guy in an old 911 flag me by on a straight then proceeded to speed up right before the next turn where I gained on him again.

He kept holding me back from better lap times.

I use to really like Porsches. Always wanted a gt3 rs.
I’m now convinced Porsches are ONLY for rich old men who don’t know how to drive. I’ve yet to see otherwise out here in the wild.

I’ve summed it up to ego and ignorance. Nobody wants to be passed in their $150,000+ car by a $5000 civic with some bullshit mods and some young idiot driving.

I didn’t just pull that opinion out of air either lol.
