Convince Me to go e85

There isnt much in this section of the new forum yet so i figured id give it a go. This could possibly even become a sticky for new members in the future. Basically, i know the pros and cons (but are there really cons?) to e85 on our platform and have my own reasons why i am not currently e85. BUT use this thread as a place to post all of the reasons why i SHOULD go e85 to help convince all of those that are on the fence!

Pro - you'll become a man with fur on your peaches! Women's clothes will literally fall off, as you drive by.
Con - forever a woman, with fur-less peaches. Your clothes will come off, whether your like it or not, when an E85 car drives by. And you will get severely pulled by E85 tuned cars...
 
Or you can run in tank meth and get all of the benefits of low mixes of E85, but with more convenience and none of the black death or fuel sender risks. I think these problems are a non-issue at lower mixes of E85 anyway though.

I agree with Enki though. Just do it. The biggest thing for me is the safety net. Being able to not give a shit about your BATs is amazing.
 
I will be going e85 here in a month or two. I have some other gen. Maint. Things I need to do before paying for the re tune lol
 
The good:
If you do a mix of E85 and gas you can avoid the black death/ fuel sender issues and still get a moderate bump in power.
My fillups are cheaper.

The bad:
It sucks balls to mix that shit sometimes at a gas station and if your a dumb ass like me who forgets to get gas u may be in trouble.
Gas mileage goes down a bit ~50 miles per tank less.
 
Mixing seems pretty straight forward to me. Only annoyance to me is that one day I fill up at 1/4 and its 10 gallons and the next day I fill up at 1/4 and its 11.5 gallons so gauging how many gallons I have left I seem to suck at

Just accept you will never have a full tank.
 
Keeps everything safer/cooler and can easily hit 300/350 @ the wheels with just intake/testpipe/internals/ethanol-mix tune (tremendous bang for the buck).

If you stay 93 and get fully bolted, you'll only end up ~300/330, have spent a lot more, and not have the safety/cooling of ethanol. You WILL get better MPGs, though.

*Black death has never been an issue for me when running in the 25-35% ethanol range. It did happen once when I ran 50/50, though. Cleaned out the spill valve and switched to a lower percentage and never had an issue since.

Think of it like this:

Stock Mazdaspeed, no bolt-ons, stock tune: 220-230/240-250 @ the wheels
AP, Internals, Intake, Testpipe, ethanol-mix tune: ~300/350 @ the wheels

Do you think 70-80/100-110 more @ the wheels will feel different? The answer is a resounding YES, very different. Once you go ethanol, you never go back, LOL
 
Definitely a night and day difference. Biggest difference is in how much top-end power you pick up because of the timing you can run. This is important on the K04 because you're getting the maximum amount of power out of every g/s you can squeeze out of that little snail. You end up with dyno graphs that look like this:



That was when I was still on the K04 running a half baked tune. Dynoed at CP-E with 150°F logged BATs. My engine probably would have blown up from how heatsoaked it was and how not cooled the intercooler was getting from CP-E's shitty fan setup had I not been on a mix. I wish I had some dyno graphs from that day of the other speed3's who were either running 93, or E85 mix tuned by etuners that didn't know what they were doing. All of them tapered off in the top end and were making ~10-30 whp less. This was the region where I would inevitably put distance on other K04 speed3's I raced on the street.
