Custom Shift Cable

Long story short he’s a piece of trash that makes terrible quality parts. He talks shit about vendors that have been around a long time, then steals their products and remakes them using chinesium quality components and then sells them to people that don’t know any better. He is community trash.
Since that is a no go, Who does make a shift cable kit that isn't fully custom. I can't seem to find anything right now as Rey FB page is not available.

This again? Thanks but no thanks see quotes below, unless his rep has changed. I know sleeping6 has seen this as Andrew had already been discussed in this thread, sadly it seems like he's currently the only option for a non do it yourself kit.
Edit: hopefully Michael Ray resurfaces again, sadly Facebook is toxic towards people doing a hobby.

Andrew Brown is dogshit. Don’t buy parts from him, please take my word for this.

Yeah I saw his name being discussed. Shame he is the only dude around at the moment.

The GOODS are in post #3. I know, so far down.

So my shift cable (fore-aft) has broken in more ways than one. Nothing new. It's currently barely holding on using solder, an injector clamp, and some fuel hose. I think the stock cables are poorly designed, so I'm not going to spend $300 on them.

My plan is to get a custom cable made from here. MidWestControl It'll be a whole lot cheaper than the factory ones and made better as well. Should be around $55 before shipping.

I can't order cables until I know the length of the old ones. This is my daily, so I don't want to just yank them out.

So here's what I need. I'm looking for someone that has some MS6 shift cables lying around, broken or new, that will measure them from one ball joint end to the other. I'm also looking for dimensions on the flange/bracket thing that mounts them to the firewall.

If you have some busted ones that you'd like to send me instead, I'd be happy to work that out, may even be able to reuse the bracket instead of making a new one.

Some evidence of carnage so far.

hey man, I’m sure you’ve posted it, but what exactly did you order cable wise? Was it a custom order? I’m looking at the site and don’t see exactly that size cable,.

For anyone running across this post (sorry for the reviving of the necro thread) Midwest has a 6 month lead time. I asked them recently as my OEM cables broke. Another option is contacting Michael Rey on Facebook in the mazdaspeed6 owners group. Pricey but sexy cables. $550 a set.

It would appear that their website has changed drastically. They used to have an option to build your own custom cables with an online configurator. I can't seem to find that now. You might have to call them and see if they'll still do a custom cable order. The options I selected can be found in this quote from a previous post of mine.

Let us know how it goes. I'll try to look into it more and see what the deal with their website is.

Hey Trithemius,

I just wanted to verify something. Not sure if you'll come across this. I cant PM you yet. Is the cable at the center of the shifter the one that connects to the fore/aft arm with the counterweight at the transmission? I replaced my cables with OEM ones this weekend and want to make sure i put them back in the right place. If anyone can confirm (and it may seem like a dumb question to some) I'd really appreciate it!

At the shifter -> At the trans
Side to side -> up and down

You can probably figure out the rest from there.

So the cable on the side of the shifter with the adjuster clip is the one that controls up and down? I'm so confused.

I think what you're saying is basically the cables do not cross over. Right goes to right on trans and left to left connection on trans when looking straight ahead from drivers seat. Did I get that correct? Thanks for replying Enki. Havent been active here in a long time.

Actually I posted exactly what I meant to say...Actually not real sure how to simplify that further.
Just take it at face value; there aren't any puzzles there.

You've been here a long time so I can understand your annoyance to my persistence for an answer to my previous questions. I'm grateful for the response and will further study your diagram until I understand. Seriously though, thank you.
