Yeah thats sweet. Before the vibrant i had the 3" catless to the oem CBE and sound was perfect for me but i was needing maw flow . Interested to see what you do. If i do anything resulting in dronelessness ill post up.

Yea ill post up, it will be about last on my list of shit to do since it isnt performance oriented. Im redoing my whole aux fuel system tomorrow then having to somewhat redo a lot of the tune then my 4bar should come in so then theres more tuning. Im still working on getting my suspension and alognment setup like i want. Then ill have time to check out the exhaust. That might not be til next spring.

So I had a little time today to work on my tune. Im waiting for a bunch of fittings and stuff ill need to do my aux fuel how i want. So i thought i would work on my stock fuel system e30 map. I put on a little bit bigger air filter and im suprised how out of wack my fuel curve got.

This was on very mild timing (12*) and like 111 idc so i need to dial a little boost back but feels pretty good. I always thought the corksport turbo was the best turbo for a stock block but its small and spools up very fast especially with meth. This turbo i feel is perfect for someone on a stock block and on stock fuel, it makes really good power and a perfect torque curve.

So i got a 4 bar map and after about 2 hours of trying to find the best calibration, i think i found one thats really close and it seems to be reading within 1 psi of my boost gauge so im happy with it and once i get my aux fuel sorted i want to see what 35 psi feels like, maybe the cams will help me get to 38 but ill probably have to add a spring to push that hard.

So for my aux fuel im just going to go full port injection with the damond adapter and run 550cc injectors maybe more. Going to add an inline bosch fuel pump and a return. Ill be controlling it all on an aem f/ic. I will spray meth through a DO size 7 nozzle pre tb for summer days and kill mode otherwise the reason im going port is for something that i can make a smoother maf curve with since i can play with pw and that the fuel wont vapor lock in the hoses since it will constantly flow. I need it to be more reliable on pump gas and whatnot for track use. I moved all my meth stuff to the trunk and ran a braided line up to the motor and can start tuning with that DO7 nozzle soon. Only way I can find legit meth here is by the 54gal drum and its $250 vp m1 and its 120 miles away. So one day soon ill have to make that trip because stock fuel power gets old fast.

I forgot to say yesterday that i decided to put new plugs in it so i can see how the first 4k miles have been.

Im very happy that they are wearing perfectly even, something ive never seen on this car. I think it has a lot to do with the intake thats flowing evenly. Every time ive changed plugs previously, number 4 is always burned.
Im going to order a damond ps mount in hopes of easing some of the vibes from bsd and jbr mount. Id love to hear comments from yall on the damond mount with bsd.

I also saw my first mazdaspeed in the wild today on the highway. It was a silver pu, i rarely even see another mazda so seeing a mazdaspeed is exciting.

I was feeling creative today an decided to try an make a new alternator heat shield since the pte setup wont fit the factory one. All i did was cut up some of the pieces of the crash bar i had leftover from mounting my intercooler and i welded some of the scrap together and ground it down and bam. Id like to use some dei gold or something to insulate it on the alternator side tho.

Can't speak for the folks with a BSD because my motor is still stock, but I went from JBR 88's all around to full Damond mounts. The Vibes went down a little which was great, but all the fucking engine noise I had before went away. I didnt realize it until then how much the noise bothered me, more so than the vibes. Suddenly I didn't have to yell at people who rode in my car, I could speak at normal audible decibel levels again.

Hopefully the mount helps you too.

It shows up friday so ill slap it on and see. Im keeping the jbr tranny mount on and i have a cs rmm. From the reviews i should be able to tell a difference right away. How long was the break-in?

I honestly can't remember, but it was like 50 miles or less. The original JBR's I had always took about 1000miles to fully settle down. (Did it twice because I got rear ended some years ago and stocked out the mounts.)

Well shit the mount showed up and i threw it on an wow what a night and day difference. I cant believe it will only get better, fist time im actually hearing my turbo and tial bpv. Only vibes are at idle and i imagine they will smooth out after a little bit but i am amazed.

Well harvest is in full swing and i havent had much time to put any love into the grocery getter but the last time i drove it, i noticed it running a little rich while cruising and the afr was going a little crazy. So i pop on the ap an start by looking at stft which was also going bananas. Then i started looking at maf voltage and maf g/s which were also reading strange. I have a video of this if anyone is interested. Anyway i know a 0-5v sensor isn’t supposed to be jumping around while cruising on flat ground. So i bought a new denso maf on amazon. Now I havent gone for a cruise and probably cant til tomorrow but wow what a difference. After about 10 min of idling and +17ish ltft now on the idle beakpoint and stft is 0.16 so i know its not a vacuum leak. So now im beginning to think that i shouldnt be out of fuel at 30psi anymore and i can start putting this 4 bar to work. I always kind of thought i was strange that 4 DO size 2 nozzles or 1400cc/min or 22 gal/hr would only get me about 5psi of extra fuel; i was always kind of expecting more. So i guess ill have to take a few steps back on my tune and kind of start over with a totally new maf curve.


I also switched from spraying meth to e85. Im having a really hard time getting ahold of meth. Closest place i can get it is 150 miles away and only in a 54 gal drum and my truck is a heavy duty 4x4 ram with s solid front axle and i dont really want to drive that far. So i moved everything to the trunk and all has been well with e85.

Im going to buy another dw300c and mount them both in the stock hanger. Fuck paying $700 for the hanger made for two pumps. Im going to run a -8 (1/2”) feed and use the factory feed for the return. Im going to run 450cc injectors, should get me where i want with a little extra room. Im going to look into one great feature of the aem fic that should allow me to run to port injectors all the time instead of just under boost. It has a way of tricking the o2 input so closed loop doesnt freak out. The aeromotive 13139 fpr should work per the aeromotive site confirming it is commonly used on previous returnless fuel systems. The whole setup is costing a little less than 2k.

Im dropping down to 17” wheels. I got some konig integram 17x9 +27 wheels and nitto nt555 255/40 tires. Still waiting on 3 more wheels but they look pretty much the same as my enkei rajin. So now i need to try and hustle my other wheels with pretty much brand new conti dws06 245/45 tires.

Ive also been practicing my aluminum mig welding so im making all new intercooler piping to cut down on all the couplers

I already have a dw300c in there that has been doing very well for me, I just didnt want to risk starving it. You could get a walbro to fit? Id rather run just one pump, not too excited to run new wires for the second one. I say $2k because the mani adapter is $550, plus $350 for the aem fic, another $200 for the fpr then about $600 for the injectors, hose, clips and some fittings and i leave a little extra because i know something else will come up.

So I did some calculating and a common figure to go by would be around 2.64 horsepower per lph of fuel flow. Going off of walbros flow chart for the 450, i would ideally run ~70psi but on a 1:1 fpr to boost increase that puts me at a minimum of 100 psi fuel pressure for the boost i plan on running which means the walbro only puts out 206 lph. Doing the math that will only support 543 hp and thats just on pump gas. I run e30 since its more readily available for me straight from the pump where i live. Please correct me if im wrong, but i have higher goals than that especially if i upgrade to the 6062 which i plan to do sometime in the next year or so.


Edit: I realized my calculation converting injector size was off, the injectors i ordered are 50lb/hr injectors and i did the math in my head and said 450cc, it is actually 525cc. My bad

So I got my injector adapter and injectors in.

Damonds site says 40mm injectors should work, well they don’t. I got bosch ev14 40mm injectors and they are too short by about 1mm or so, so i am going to have to modify the bracket that attaches the fuel rail to the adapter. Ive never had an issue or been disappointed with a damond product until now. Either way the injectors i have flow 530cc at 100% dc at 40psi. The map i made on my aem fic only pushes them to 80% dc. I plan to run 70 psi fuel pressure with a 1:1 boost pressure increase. At 70 psi the injectors flow 567cc at 80% dc and at 100 psi (since i will be running over 30 psi boost) tbe injectors flow 682cc at 80% dc. This is plenty of fuel for e30 and ill also be spraying a DO size 2 meth nozzle pre tb for additional boost cooling and maybe a degree or two timing. Really hoping that i can push this 5858 to 650whp range but im thinking 600-620 is more realistic. Im making pretty good progress on my intercooler piping, waiting on some additional pipe and a new adapter to move my bov.

Its finally starting to get cold out and im not sure how much progress ill be able to make but id like to have it going by the end of january so i can get on the dyno and get those cold weather inflated dyno numbers.

I decided i dont want to recirc my bov so i bought the vented bottom half and moved it behind the headlight in the hotpipe.

I have almost everything to get started on my port injection setup, just waiting on the -8 hose and a couple fittings and ill be good to get going on it.

I also picked up an sti front lip for cheap that im going to see if i can get working. Does anyone know where I can get a pigtail for the fuel pump or know a part number?

Check out my old build thread for using a second in tank pump. It's pretty easy on a 6. My setup was a return style, can't remember how much it cost but it wasn't expensive. You can run a return style FPR from Fuelab that's cheaper than the Aeromotive but the cost becomes a wash when you run the return line and fittings.

A Wally 450 should be good for 600-650ish. The important thing to remember is that flow and pressure are a give and take. More pressure means the injectors can put out more fuel but the pump will run out of steam faster. Since you're not using the PI stuff during low throttle inputs or idling, larger injectors = better (to a point) and it means you can get more out of the pump as well since you can lower the pressure.

Yea im just throwing in another dw300c in the basket and using a y fitting to join them to a -8 bulkhead fitting and running a -8 feed and using the stock line as the return. Already have the aeromotive fpr, ive always had good luck with aeromotive products on my supras so i didnt think twice about using them again, worth the extra money to me. I actually do plan on spraying my port injectors from 1750 rpm and up which is why i wanted to get as small of injectors as i could that gave me the headroom i wanted at 80% duty cycle so i could have good spray pattern for low duty cycle cruising. I want some valve cleaning action from the injectors during highway driving. Ill still be spraying a small amount of meth too for some knock protection and boost cooling since i have it all installed in the trunk and im not pulling it out.

You're more likely than not going to have a tough time getting things to be smooth spraying that low. If cleaning is your major concern, it'll do enough cleaning when you're WOT. Actually it'll clean better at WOT because charge velocities will be higher.

A good PCV system that doesn't pull tons of oil into the intake coupled with spraying at WOT will keep things perfectly clean.
