ECU Wiring OCV

I have 2007 CX-7 2.3, but same engine...
The OCV valve is not working. The valve itself tests OK as does a spare I have. If you run 12v to it, it opens correctly. The constant 12V is there at one terminal but I appear to be getting no ground signal from the ECU. I have measured the resistance in the cable from the ECU to the OCV valve and it appears to be OK, although it is a bit hard to tell if the connection from the plug to the connector on the ECU is good.
So...either some part of the wiring to the OCV from the ECU is bad or the ECU is faulty. Before I source a 2nd hand ECU can someone please confirm that when the ignition is on from a cold start the ECU to OCV should go to ground and open up the OCV?

Actual OE solenoid? Also check the filter in the cam cap the solenoid sits in. It's underneath it, remove it and clean it. The way these work is with a pulse modulated signal so you'll read weird things if you try and meter it

Did you manage to solve the problem? I have such a fault in Mazda 5, I am an electronics engineer, I will try to open the ECU and find the problem, but maybe you have already solved it?

Did you end up opening it up?

I think it opens when you start driving
