Endgame setup- BW s257sxe

Ac kicking on will bump the idle of the car a few hundred rpms unrelated to air off the fans

Yes, but what I'm seeing is excessive surging and the idle rpm never stabilizing. I'll try and get a video of it

What’d you set your idle to?

It's set to 950-1k.
I tested the theory my tuner presented by turning on the AC to trigger the fan, and watched STFT respond to the extra air flow. I then blocked the fan shroud with cardboard and found STFT to flatten out quickly. So I ended up with this to correct the problem.
More room for stickers, perhaps?? LOL

Dropping the tune down to 25psi. CA 91 octane sucks. We're on our 8th revision trying to get rid of this KR. The car is begging for more octane. I can't wait to start on the e85 tune to really kick it up a notch or two!

I also just put my order in for a new set of Fortune Auto 500 coilovers with 9k fr, 11k r hyperco springs. It's about a 3-5 week lead time currently. My Cobb springs and Bilstein B8s are just too damn soft to have any sort of fun with my current wheel/tire setup

Can’t wait to see those coilovers installed !!
I put those on my wishlist

I was in BFE & had to fill up on 91 & remapped with OST stage 1 map & it guzzles fuel, but it drove pretty damn good yesterday & today.
I’ve hit about 300 miles on the tune, but that 93 alone is JUICE

So far on the 3rd rev of the e30 tune. Car is insane. I am completely happy with all the work put into it and this turbo setup. The BW s257sxe makes for the perfect street car. Target boost is 35psi currently. It hits 30psi by 4200rpm. I'll be attending a local dyno day on the 20th. Hoping to get the tune done before then. Also time to change out my VC to match the intake

So.. car is down and I do not know why. Went to take 4th gear logs today to send to my tuner and the car started smoking like crazy around 7800rpm. The engine immediately died and I coasted off to the side safely. Popped the hood and found an absolute mess of oil everywhere. It appears to have come mainly from my VC breather oil cap. No check engine light set in AP, but when the engine died, the CEL was flashing.

Had it towed home and immediately thought it jumped timing so I moved the crankshaft to tdc and counted the number of teeth from the space. Found it to be 20 to the crankshaft position sensor. So timing didn't jump at least.

I pulled the spark plugs and noticed the plug from cylnder 3 had zero gap left. The other three looked normal. I put an older set of plugs in, filled it with some oil and gave her a crank. It only turned over once before I stopped because I saw a huge amount of pressurized smoke exit the VC area, I suspect from the breather cap. The check ball inside made a really loud noise, almost sounding like a hose bursting.

The other weird thing I observed after cranking it over once was, after I shut it off, smoke was continuing to exit from where the starter meets the block for about another 2mins. I'm at a complete loss here as the Overspeed motor had less than 7k miles on the clock.

Wow, that sucks. I wonder what the deal is. If this was not a built motor I would have thought maybe bent a rod or something in cyl 3. Was this the first time you spun it to 7800? Hope it is nothing big but that much oil is always a concern :-(

Not the first time. We have been tuning at 8k rpm this whole time. We completed the 91 tune a couple weeks back. And we were almost done with the e30 tune. The 4th gear log during the mechanical event was super clean. I reviewed it with my tuner and it was nothing with the tune. Very little to no KR in the log. Everything looked optimal.

Got ahold of a compression tester and found zero compression in cylinders 2 & 3. Tested multiple times and made sure cylinder bleedover was not occurring. My next step is to get a borescope in each cylinder to see what the hell is going on. Regardless, looks like the motor needs to come out FML. The root cause is still unknown. I'm extremely hesitant to throw another motor at it without knowing what went wrong first.

Well that sucks, are you going to talk to overspeed and see what's up?
I'm in talks with Jordan now. I'm not really pushing any agenda on him. I think he will help me out after the holidays, but nothing is set in stone right now. I mean I don't even know how I feel right now about the situation. The motor is only 8 months old and hasn't seen any aggressive driving outside of data logging. Not to mention only 7k miles or less on it. If I have to buy another whole motor, it's game over for me and this journey with this platform.
