Endgame setup- BW s257sxe

I'm in talks with Jordan now. I'm not really pushing any agenda on him. I think he will help me out after the holidays, but nothing is set in stone right now. I mean I don't even know how I feel right now about the situation. The motor is only 9 months old and hasn't seen any aggressive driving outside of data logging. Not to mention only 7k miles or less on it. If I have to buy another whole motor, it's game over for me and this journey with this platform.

Sounds like a plan, I hope you can get something worked out. I am interested in what the tear down shows. Goodluck

Well..endgame setup is exactly what I got I guess [emoji17][emoji17][emoji17]

Wow, kind of reminds me of.

I hope you get warranty work on that engine, that is some serious damage for a built turn key engine.

Unfortunately, he won't be honoring any type of warranty on it. Even with it only being 8 months old and less than 7k miles. He said he only honors things that are his fault. So I assume he takes the position that this isn't his fault. I can't believe it really. He is offering to help me with labor and that's about it.

So basically he'll warranty whatever he feels like? Did he say what he believes bro hebthat caused the issue?

Yeah, it's really unfortunate how it's being handled. I'm responsible for a whole new bottom end in his eyes. The root cause is unknown. Damage like that comes from extreme detonation I would think. Here is the log from that moment the event occurred. It's pretty clean in my opinion. I'm going to pull the di injectors shipped with the motor and get them tested for now. For the reputation Jordan has, that's extremely disappointing to hear.
Are we in agreement that some sort of responsibility on his part is apparent? I'm still going through all the emotions really. It's mine boggling at this point

Tough situation. You'd think if it was blatant assembly error that it might not have lasted 7k miles, but it also seems your tune is proper and has been churning out clean logs. I guess I'd expect a more final determination of the cause before he straight up says you're on your own in regards to the warranty.

Yeah that's how I feel about it too. We really won't know until we tear it all down. It's probably won't happen for awhile at this point. Money is so tight for my family being on my income alone the past few months. Wife was checked out and into a mental health center. All while I went to work and cared for our 2yr alone. The one thing I can do now is, get both the PI and DI injectors tested to make sure that wasn't the cause.

How long had you been on that tune revision.
Only enough time to load it and take logs to send back immediately. Maybe 20-30 miles realistically. I have logs from every revision saved. Ranging from the bnr s4v1 I had previously on 91 to the current s257sxe 91 and e30 tunes.

Could always be a part failure but that would point more tune than build

Anything in the fuel delivery system.
Ignition timing
Injectors were sent out for testing today.
In my opinion, the logs tell a lot about the fuel delivery system and potential failure. If it was fuel pump related, we would see a lean condition. Bad gas? We would see KR. Being returnless, all that's really left is the injectors sent with the motor (no test/flow data provided) or my brand new PI injectors.

I was able to visually inspect the intake valves. They do not appear bent or damaged. Aside from the usual carbon build up

Dropping the tune down to 25psi. CA 91 octane sucks. We're on our 8th revision trying to get rid of this KR. The car is begging for more octane. I can't wait to start on the e85 tune to really kick it up a notch or two!

I also just put my order in for a new set of Fortune Auto 500 coilovers with 9k fr, 11k r hyperco springs. It's about a 3-5 week lead time currently. My Cobb springs and Bilstein B8s are just too damn soft to have any sort of fun with my current wheel/tire setup

You said in this post 8th revision trying to get rid of knock. Possibly the damage was already done to the pistons with detonation before the e85 tune.

KR during that revision never exceeded 3.0 KR or throughout the whole 91 tune.
