Regulators that support carb and FI do a poor job at both. I had an aerormotive and the return orifice is too large so it would surge if you set it up for FI. This would cause the return line to rattle and pressure would regulate but bounce a few psi. It was not smooth as the out flow was too big so it was like trying to fill a Gatorade bottle from a fire hose. I ended up fixing it by just getting a FI only regulator and that worked great.It would be running lower pressure at idle as a result if it was.
