Endgame setup- BW s257sxe

Anyway you can post a list of those fittings?
(7) 4AN straight fittings
(4) 4AN 90° fittings
(7) 1/8npt to 4AN adapters
(4) 1/8npt to 4AN 90° adapters
(2) 10mm to 4AN banjo adapters
20ft. of 4AN line

I ordered it all off eBay and probably have extra of certain fittings I'm sure lol

Finally! I picked up everything from the machine shop today and had some time to finally get the crank in. It spins nice and smooth. Up next is fit/filing piston ring gaps.

Nice Toolbox! :D
Iamareios, do you mind if I ask you what was the break in procedure that Overspeed had you perform on their motor? I am assuming break in oil and the standard frequent changes? I wanted to order on of their engines but do to time constraints I am going a different route as they are not taking orders yet. Thanks!

Got quite a bit done today. This is my first time so I took my sweet ass time and it's quite the learning experience. Piston rings filed to .020 top and .024 bottom (thanks JTL) I also got the pistons and rods all mated up and happy. I'm boggling my mind about spacing the ring gaps correctly before dropping the pistons in. Am I overreacting?? Lol

Ships his motors with break in specific oil that you run until 250. Then move to a conventional oil until 1500. At that point you can switch to synthetic oil of your choice. He basically says drive it like you stole it from the get go to get them rings to seat.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply, I'm trying to do all my homework. I'm a little concerned about the first start and I'm just trying to sort it all out.

Your thread is awesome BTW thanks for taking the time to post all this with pics and document it all. What a saga!

Massive failure today. Frustrating as hell. When I go to pop the 87.75 pistons in the block, the wiseco 88mm piston ring compressor is giving me quite the headache. I ended up bending one oil control ring. Now I'm waiting on another set of rings at the moment. I gave it a go several times and don't feel confident enough during this process. So I'll take the new rings to be gapped and pistons to be dropped in the block to the machine shop. Oh well, there's just some thing's you need help with.

I think that's exactly what my problem is. The 88 compressor won't work and finding a tapered 87.75 compressor seems difficult so far. I really don't want to resort to using the old school universal clamp type. Or having to purchase a $100+ tool set for this one time use. At that price it seems more cost effective to take it to the machine shop. If anyone's in the market for a 88mm wiseco piston ring compressor, I've got one for you. Again, I'm in no rush. Although, the goal in mind is to get it up and running before the end of February.

My son was disappointed though. I had to give him the talk that sometimes you just need help from others and that's okay! LOL

I was able to find a tapered 87.75 compressor from ARP for a decent price. I'll give it another go once that and the new ring set arrives. I'm a little worried I may have damaged all the rings somewhat. I may just scrap this whole set and start fresh with the new set.

Why is your bore 87.75 and not just 88? I am sure they are fine if you did not smash them too much, they see some pretty serious shit when the engine is running.

Good question. I had purchased new 88 pistons for the 2nd Overspeed motor and at the last minute he sent me a message that he was using 87.75 pistons instead. I thought it was kind of weird at the time. So here I am with an 87.75 bore block. I inspected them this morning and they all look good. They move smoothly in their lands. They don't appear bent at all. So I'll just wait on the single oil ring I funked up and give it another try.

I would double check, I didn't even know you could get pistons in that size for this car. I mean, it makes more sense as you remove less material as the 88 can have issues after 600 or so with the block just not being thick enough to take it.

They're definitely 87.75. Shop measured and I confirmed. Manley offers a 87.75 in their catalog and corresponding piston rings

Congratulations you have a unicorn
I spoke with Jordan last night and he said Manley added that size to their catalog specifically for Overspeed. So that makes sense that they're hard to find I guess. He also said he has extras of those oil rings and he'll try finding one for me. Not bad.
