GEN1 MAZDASPEED 3 NO BOOST

How dirty is your air cleaner?

Weird actually.... it's metal? or feels metal at least. I usually clean it with degreaser, then soapy water, then rinse it off and let it dry for at least 24 hours before using it. It literally looks like a cone filter, just metal.

Do you have a muffler at all? If any of the converter material fell apart while the engine was running it is possible that it shot back into the muffler or a bent section of exhaust where it cant escape causing a restriction

If that is the case, i will unbolt the rear of the downpipe, and hold it up with some sort of tie, and see if i build boost like that.

I removed my intake manifold to check on my injectors, and there's about a cup of oil in my IM. i removed and cleaned it less than 500 miles ago, and there was so much oil in it. My injectors have so much oil around them too, my seals failed for sure, there was also a small puddle of oil/gas under my first injector.

I have never sent these out to be cleaned, i have 2 sets. OEM, and some that came with a used fuel rail i purchased. I am going to get a set sent out and cleaned.

1. Catalytic Converter - gone. Problem still persists.
2. Injectors - working on this...

Hell just drive the car real quick without the air filter to see if it makes boost. If it does then you have a better idea of where to look

Update:

I removed my injectors, which i had installed by a local speed shop "Prestige Auto Mechanics" claimed to be a "Professional" on turbo car applications. I judged by reviews which were great.

My injectors had the wrong o-rings. Horrible work, they were beat to shit. I guess when they were trying to remove them they were stuck. I removed all 4, 3/4 seem fine, 1 is completely beat on, and they're beyond dirty. I am getting oil leaking all the way past my CS seals.

1. Can i reuse my CS Injector seals?
2. Should i just replace the one that is beat up, or should i replace all at the same time?

So now my list is
1. Cat - NOT IT
2. Injectors - 1 really bad shape, bent and looks like it was hit with a hammer or something. The CS seal for that one is stuck in the block too.
3. Air filter - NOT IT
4. ?????? (MAYBE TIMING?)

I am in the process of purchasing a daily driver, which will give me some freedom with this car as i'll be able to do more extensive work with a larger time frame. I am beginning to suspect that so many things on this engine have been done wrong that it's not one singular thing causing my issue, but a mixture of a lot of small things causing my engine to run bad.

So that last thing that was worked on was the injectors, and the problem started shortly after that. Will poorly installed injectors cause this issue?

I understand this thread is very long, and i am fixing basically everything chasing this issue down. I apologize if this is frustrating for some, but i am trying my best to take your guys advice. I am doing this between school/work, I feel 40 at the age of 24 haha...

Anyways thanks for the help, any other input will be extremely helpful, i am going to figure out the injector situation, and then head to the next thing, and so forth...

if your injector was beat to shit and your having a misfire due to a non working injector the car will not boost with a misfire theres your problem

You'd feel a misfire though, and 3 cylinders should be enough to create *some* boost; considering I had a plug shit out on me and I could still spool the turbo I'd say a misfire isn't going to be the cause.

i was under the impression our ECU would cut boost with a misfire condition....

That may be but it can't cut it to zero if the throttle is open. It would either have to close throttle or cut fuel to do that; anything less and the turbo will try to hit at least spring pressure.

Hello everyone, I had the same situation and I found the problem. In my case I did everything from a boost leak test till changing the MAF sensor, but nothing worked until I did my research with the codes the vehicle was giving me (P0300) and (P0303) and with the Versatune program I realized that fuel wasn't reaching the engine because the injectors and the fuel relief valve was clogged, on my research I find out when you use Ethanol mix with gas create gum substance that clog the lines so to be sure I replaced all four injectors and the fuel relief valve, and clean the hpfp and now the car is running great with maximum boost."
