How Honda Completely Eliminated Torquesteer on the New Civic Type-R (With No Nannies)

I bet if you put $20k (bringing it up to $55k if you can find one for MSRP) in that Type-R, it'd FYFN [emoji14] Heck, I've seen junkyard Hondas with huge EBay turbos putting down over 700whp and weight only like 2,500lbs, costing only around $5k total for everything. They're definitely beaters, though. Raggedy as heck.
(BTW, technically I don't have a Honda :D).

Joking aside, a Roush would be nice.
You can do it for cheaper, but Roush does do suspension, supercharger, fueling and body work at what I bought the car for price wise with a warranty. Ebay turbos don't get a warranty.

crapatalk it sucks for free

True. Some people want that warranty. And the comprehensive package is nice.
Some prefer an EK hatch Honda that'll pull 800whp GTRs on the cheap. Others get a small, light junkyard car and wedge in an LS with a turbo that'll do 750-1000whp pretty easy (depending on the LS) . Just all about picking your poison. Those junker cars can be a blast for very little cash, though. That's about all they have going for them, however. The Roush is much nicer overall.

Ever seen the BoostedBoiz YT channel?

I may have come across it, but can't say I've searched out their YouTube channel.

I've seen the small ek hatches destroy cars. I saw one dude who had a nitrous tank on his turbo'd Honda who on the cheap would open the bottle on the passenger seat to get the boost. That guy may be dead at this point because everything was on the cheap for him.

You think? $20k is more than enough for an awesome built motor, top-notch turbo, and all the fueling you'd ever need. You can have an 800whp Speed for less than that, including all the necessary supporting mods.

Yeah, either that or one bad road hump, bump, foreign object in the road, random car, etc., that's all it takes. Things can go south in a hurry at 150mph; one wrong move and you can be dead in a split-second.

That kind of dealer markup is sinful. When PT Cruisers first came out dealers were doing the same thing.

My approach is to begin negotiations at MSRP, not a dime more....then start knocking 'me down...or just buy it through Costco or another comparable one....even USAA is using TrueCar these days. I have had good experience with TrueCar/USAA in recent purchases from new, and now they are doing used too.

I think it was Road & Track (may have been Car & Driver) who had an editorial about how dealer markup has basically killed the Focus RS because folks have just moved on to something else. The 2018 is the last run of the RS as the Focus is undergoing a major revision in 2019.

The Type R is really impressive, as a boy-racer car with a warranty. The MSRP isn't outrageous, but like the RS since there are a limited number coming over it is not likely that folks will find a dealer who will deal on the price. What a shame.

Do you really think a 800 hp fail wheel drive civic would be faster than a 650 hp mustang?

Other than rolls on the highway?
[doublepost=1498401889][/doublepost]Also keep in mind that the guys with the fast ek s are stripped to like 2200 lbs

Faster? Probably. Quicker? Hell no. Fast FWD cars are one trick ponies.

On rolls, absolutely. When track-prepped for the strip, absolutely as well. CRX'es start at ~2000lbs. Use one of those and strip it instead, LOL. It'd be pretty ridiculous.

Would the Mustang be nicer to drive in most situations? Absolutely.

I'd have to agree the track prepped civic would be faster than the mustang, but at the end of the day it's still a civic. I would take the mustang 20 times out of 10 any day of the week.

True. Different strokes for different folks. Heck, people love Miatas on the track—even stock when they're super slow—arguably because of their superior balance, front engine/RWD, and light weight, which gives an awesome driving experience.

If we were talking about cheap fast track cars its c5 z06 or gtfo

Fast street cars mustang > civic no matter what.

His car is real. Thing is pretty sick too. Killing everyone at Airstrip attack. By everyone I mean cars and spectators.
I'm trying to convince my wife to let me enter it into the Hill Climb in the time attack 2 production class.
