Improving efficiency of gen 1 tmic ducting?

Read a thread about a guy who said he put rtv sealant all around the duct on the bottom of the hood. Claimed it reduced bats a little. I don't plan on ever going fmic so interested in trying to improve it. I looked at mine and didn't really see anywhere to seal.

Anyone with a gen 1 do anything to try and improve the design? Thoughts on blocking the area going to the battery or is that really required?
 
The core can only handle so much. For intercoolers, surface area is king, with airflow through it being a close second. Thickness (up to a point) as far as dissipating heat goes has rapid diminishing returns.

I run some kind of rubber toilet/plumbing cap/plug thing on my duct to the battery, but honestly there's only so much you can do to improve the cooling. What turbo (assuming stock), intercooler (assuming Corksport) do you have and what temps do you see? What is your intended use case?

Stock turbo and street unit tmic. I was just wanting to reduce air loss across the cooler is all. I haven't logged since sealing around it.
 
Air loss around the intercooler really only matters under a certain speed, which is only lowered *slightly* by sealing everything up. I would wager that going further than you already have is likely to produce results that fall within margin of error, unless you only do racing at low speeds (1st/2nd).
