Injector cleaning in situ?

Glad you're up and running! That TB connector has gotten me a couple times over the years, escaped my mind on this one.

the thing that gave it away was along with the code, there was no sensor information while running diagnostics with forscan.

It could be a normal sound as I am not used to this engine and I cant hear it in the cabin (or probably even with the hud down but havent tried that yet) but there is a slight clicking - probably just the injectors but you guys seem to be experts so a second opinion would be welcome!

Very noisy, welcome to the sound of the engine. Now if you start hearing a metallic slapping or rubbing noise you've got problems and your timing chain / vvt is past due for service

Great news, we are up and running thanks to your advise.
Done some more readings and noticed on one occasion there was a error code relating to the throttle body, this was a second hand replacement of ebay as I damaged the housing for the connector on my original, the connector is in a very tighr spot and I dont think it was fully on, pushed it further on today and she started up and idled on the second attempt.

Started off ifling rather high but after a few more startups she is now running as I would expect. havent taken the RPM too high yet, theres now a engine temp sensor thats throwing an error, this will have to wait as the engine/exhaust was hot at this point and I will probably have to climb back under the car to check this now. coolant is working its way around as the hose is warm.

Really want to throw a thank you to you guys here for helping, would never of founf that ground otherwise!
Awesome build. I have never seen an mzr swapped miata.

Does this actually run? Would like to see some clips of this thing in action. Has anyone even done this before? Only other DISI transplant I can think of is the Mazda5 that Motor Trend did more than a decade ago.

Answer is "mostly" - it runs, drives, passes UK regulations (MOT) still working through some issues as can be seen in other posts. I dont belive this is the first one in a mk3 but I do belive this is the first right hand drive one - I just tried looking for the forum post but cant find it, the inspiration came from over at miata.net forums

@SJones if you have documented your build, or at least posted it anywhere on social media, please do share it here. I rarely see mzr swaps. I'll check your other posts in the case you have more on it here :dancer2:
