Masterminds old speed build

One of the first changes I made was to ditch the stock seats, they lack bolster for track duty. I went with a pair of Corbeau FX1 Pro’s with Corbeau slider brackets. Also ordered resistors to restore air bags to the car. I’ve got no plans to go to harnesses as I don’t want to cage the car and a harness bar just isn’t the route I want to go.

Currently the car has Koni Yellows with Eibach Pro on it. I wanted to get the car down another half inch so after consulting with @monkey.bones.007 I went with the ground control coil over conversion.

I also found a solid price on 200tw tires, I’ve become found of the Bridgestone re-71 ran them on my bmw track car. But I have been reading a lot about the Federal 595 RS-rr I decided to take the plunge at $100 a tire shipped. I’ll update later in the year as to thoughts on the tires.

I may have to try those tires this season, really liking the RE71 but theyre not cheap.
Read alot of positive on the federals

Federal 595RSRR is a super cheap, awesome tire. I used them this past season and have only one issue with when. They are VERY sticky, and I never dealt with spinning through gears or anything.

Only issue is that they are LOUD. VERY loud. If you daily then, be prepared for some noise.

That was one of the negatives I read about the tire but I don’t daily it. It will go to a track day a month and get driven a couple days a month.

I loved how the re-71 performed. I may end up going back to them depending on how the 595 performs.

Well besides the noise, I have no negative.

Be warned they do run a bit wide so size accordingly. I use a 225 and they are more like a 235-245. Still fit with minor rubbing.

noise is to be expected from a tire like this. i dont daily the car anymore but when i did it was on RE71. RE71 on track are unbelievably grippy for a "street" tire. it surprised me and any friend riding passenger at the track how well they grip. ive gone through more re71 then id like to admit, but i was getting some special pricing before, now that im not able to do that anymore, its time for a new street/track tire. i have 2 sets of rims, one for open lapping/street, and one set for slicks for time attack competition

The wheels still on this thing?

They are. But I’ve driven it very little spending the time working on collecting all the little things I want before I move on to exhaust mani and ewg, so it spends more time sitting then actually getting driven. So possibly the 20th track day we’ll see if I loose a wheel. Going to get some seat time in it before I swap the suspension and tires, to get a feel for it on the track and my re-introduction to fwd coming back from a rwd car

Just wait until you find out all of the suspension bits were cross threadedb back together.
