Motec m142 ecu on a mazdaspeed?

So do any of you guys know of we can use a flexfuel sensor to run e85 mixes with this thing?

I know @Atvfreek is a busy guy, but I'm curious about all my other questions.

If this thing can truly delete SWAS, run a flexfuel kit, squeeze out more DI injector room, and rev out to 9k rpm's.... I'm down!

I'll be caught up on my credit cards in the next couple of months, so cost wont be a problem if it can do everything I'm hoping it does.

It would be impossible to squeeze out DI headroom as the limitation is a characteristic of the injector itself, nothing software related. It has tables to rev to the moon as far as I know and possibly has the ability to do a true flex fuel, but that would be a question for him.

Plus, you can just delete SWAS with unplugging the sensor, or you can get creative and put a switch inline with it.

I'm aware. I have a switch already. A software fix that actually works would be nice for reasons....

If my understanding of how our cars operate the injectors is correct, there's no way to get around the limitations of spark and cam timing and thus, most people shouldn't be going over a measured 100% IDC for that reason. People with aftermarket cams that have a later close time are even worse off than those with stock cams.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there any benefit to us fruit cakes that dont want 700+hp?

Maybe a way to fiddle with the DI system for slightly more fueling?

I'm drooling at the idea of revving out to 9k rpms, but I dont know if there are any other pro's for us guys under the monster power crowd.

Would we be able to use this standalone with a FlexFuel sensor system?

Would the gen2's be able to do permanent SWAS delete?

Could we control 5th/6th port or even 8th port PI directly with the standalone?

You can run just about any sensor you can imagine with the M142, your only limitation will be how many due to the spare inputs/outputs available to you.

99% of setups on this platform wont make efficient power to 9k rpm anyways, even with my setup and Justin's power still starts tapering and falling off around 8500 give or take.

You can control anything you want, 5/6th port, PI, nitrous, traction control, rolling anti lag etc.

If you really want RPM you need to do a lot to make it feasible.

With more money you can go even higher, but you'd probably have to get rid of DI altogether to get there. I don't think the HPFP can reliably handle much more than I'm already hitting (12.3k Hz) but stock internals would help.

So with such high possibilities with this unit, what would a shop tune for such a detailed system run? Just asking for ballpark, I'm not holding any to this since I'm sure tuning these things will require more time than what Cobb or Versatune offer.
 
Sorry for the late reply to this.

The retail pricing on this plug and play package will be $6,895 which includes the Motec Hardware, firmware (required), harness, CAN LTC and wideband sensor (required).

The firmware is basically a base map for a bone stock Mazdaspeed as this is what it was developed around. Don’t quote me for sure, but a tune for this would be between about $750-1k give or take.

Pretty sure it tunes just like an Accessport tune does (logs and then adjustments)? Freektune is able to do tunes I am fairly certain, and probably the only one with the ability besides Motec

Self tuning is 100% possible. The firmware included on the ECU is what you tune with, you just have to download the M1 Tune software from MoTec's website. You cannot purchase a "blank" ecu from MoTec, you have to purchase a firmware with it. When you purchase the Mazdaspeed PNP setup it comes with a base map that will run a stock Mazdaspeed just fine. It will take you quite some time to learn the navigation, the tables and the severe complexity of the firmware and the tables, but yes you can 100% tune yourself. However, I do not recommend it as it is an entire different ball game compare to Accesstuner. It's not for the faint of heart by any means. I've attached a picture of the M1 Tune Software and what the base map provided in the Mazda specific firmware looks like @Enki
