Expensive. I always do it expensive. Guess the whole kit needs to be replaced. Still odd there was no clutch smell and it drove smooth as butter right up until it didn't, like a light switch.
 
Ordered a release fork and the ACT full disc clutch kit, as opposed to 6 puk, on Sept 15th. I get an email the following week letting me know they are on back order until Mid-October. Shiiiit.

Huge shout out to @L337TurboZ for having a kit on hand and getting it out to me quick! Everything is replaced, tightened to spec etc etc - just waiting on a hand to come help me lift and align this fucker.

Such bling for something only I will ever see....unless I'm have a splendidly horrible day of course.

Separating solo is easy thanks to gravity - putting it back up and re-aligning is much easier with another set of hands. Should have a buddy over tomorrow or the next day to assist - almost there...again!

Not nearly enough. I'm blaming the driver and a trashed throw out bearing? I installed it November of 2018 but only had like 45K on the clutch kit. The wearing out wasn't intense enough to "smell" during this time, as in I know what a burning clutch smells like and never smelled it.

I knew the bearing was on the out but I also planned to rebuild my transmission before I got irritated and bought a whole 'nother one specifically for the part I can't recall the name for (talked about it farther up, shifter cables connect to it, long rod that assists in gear shifts) that I could buy separately for $450 or a whole transmission for $500

We'll see if I make this one last longer...or need to switch to an automatic :neutral:
 
ah ok, cool, i haven't seen enough data on these to have a good feel for average lifespan, so sounds like 50k is possibly the lower to medium of the envelope. I'll be installing the same combo sometime in the next 6 months.
 
Since I haven't been able to get another hand getting my transmission mated back to the engine I purchased a low pro transmission jack in hopes of getting on myself. Took some adjustments and props to get it to sit correct, I think that part is done - I can only lift that thing and move it around only so many times (I probably should get a lift). But it has adjustments to roll and tilt the transmission which should be helpful.

Fuck I hate transmission work. So close but so far. I thought by getting if off without removing the subframe I was going to save time this run around. But that seems to be what is mostly blocking me. I've figured out how to get it around the lower arm and almost up to proper height but having trouble lining everything up straight enough to get the bell house around the clutch plate so the rear of the transmission fits in. As I type this I'm thinking I may not have jacked the engine back up far enough to level-ish. This would give me more of a straight shot up. I've been angling them both and trying to meet in the middle. I don't remember the technique I used last time, I also had 2 sets of hands to help.
 
Lowered subframe and pushed it back about an inch.

Transmission mated and torqued and re-mounted in no time. All mounts re-torqued, subframe re-attached. I'll double check all the torque values on the housing, mounts and subframe tomorrow before moving on. I'm tired and will just get irritated if I go anymore tonight.

Don't need the subframe touched when removing the transmission but sure makes a hell of a lot easier to install if you move it, need to remember that for next time - I ended up wasting more time fucking around it than just moving it.
 
Getting everything back together and found my first ooops/wtf. Leads from 02 sensor #1 looks like the connectors pulled out of the fitting. I'm assuming I can push them back in? I just need orientation I guess?

Took a guess - I have 50/50 chance of getting it right.

All that is left are attaching the shifter cables, axles, wheels, lower her down and fill up transmission and cross my fingers.
 
Always have to fight with something. Intermediate axle - goes in but not far enough to allow the bracket to swing up to mount it, getting caught on the plastic vent looking item above it. Taking a seat and checking work before going out and beating on it some more. Hoping to get back on road this evening - as long as I don't end up finding anything else.

**As is the usual, I bitch about something and then get it to work immediately after.

If there is a c clip on the inside of the I shaft then use some wheel bearing grease or something to hold it in the middle position so it doesn't bind on install.

If there is no c clip and it is straight splines it should just slide right in without issue. If it isnt going in easily then you're hitting the support bearing portion on something else.

It ended up being...a tiny plastic clip in the way. I had the mount between it and the large plastic piece. It was fully inserted into the transmission - once I pushed the clip out the mount swung right into place.
 
And we are back in business again. All that's left is to bleed the clutch - pedal is way soft.

But it goes forward and backward as it should...yay!
 
Used my pneumatic bleeder system and flushed my brake fluid. Still a pain in the ass. Still have a super soft clutch pedal which is really only bad from a start.

Took her for a quick test drive around the local roads as a test. All works as it should, apart from the soft clutch. And as I'm 2 block from home I come over a hill and hit something square on with my tires. It was white, it was loud. Shortly after the air pressure light comes on. Get home and yup...is flat. Oh...and whatever it was also punctured my tire. Found the leak :|

So now its time to find some wheels somewhere that is open hopefully tomorrow. I have to at the very least have the car for Tuesday. While I'm 99.99% WFH I have to meet contractors at the office for some DB and software updates.

Shit.
 
Got me some Discount Tire specials this morning. Not 'cheap' in price but not expensive either. And needing something NOW I knew I wasn't going to get many options. I can also turn around and re-sell them later I guess. Kept all the old stockers as well. 1 is toast with a puncture, the other 3 have scuffs and scrapes but hold air and are straight. Might come in handy some day.
