Navy's new money pit

So long story short, I sold my speed 6 to my brother, and about a month ago I picked up this south of Tacoma. Its a '64 F100 2wd with a 289 and a 3 on the tree. Odometer shows 24xxx but id say its been flipped at least once. It tried to strand me twice on the drive home....once getting stuck in 3rd gear and then with about 12 more miles of highway left the return hose from the heater core split, luckily right at the barb. So after borrowing a box cutter from a gas station I was back on the road.

So far I've converted it from points, installed the correct fuel sending unit after someone installed the wrong one and then cut the float to fit in the hole, subsequently water-logging it, and installed a generic Bosch tach. Ive also got new heater hose that needs to be cut and installed but I found alot of rust on the battery tray so ive been blasting that with a wire wheel.

Also the coolant return barb on the intake manifold was roached pretty bad so I replaced it with a brass 90° I got at ACE. Currently I'm also waiting on a new driver side exhaust manifold since the one on the truck has an ear broke off on the #1 cylinder and it sounds like a tractor. On to the pictures and my Roadkill-esqe list.

Good find. Fuck points, I went HEI on my chevy and went for shortie headers. Excellent start

Made a little more progress since the first round of pictures were taken. Replaced that roached out petcock on the heater return with a new brass elbow from ACE and removed the 'murica off the bumper along with the ugly ass bumper guards. When I pulled the battery tray off I noticed that the metal had started to corrode and someone just painted over the rust, so I started stripping that. Also I pulled out the "rent-n-roll special" radio that was just sat in the glove box and came upon this cluster fuck of a wiring job. PO said the factory radio quit working and the wife wants to try to get it working again.

The new exhaust manifold came in today so eventually I need to clean up the mounting surfaces and get that installed, and I sanded the harmonic balancer and painted the timing marks so i can set that once its back together.

Made some more progress last night. Battery tray is in, new heater hoses in, seatbelts, new battery cables and got the old manifold off. Turns out it was worse than I thought.
