p2177 and p2187 and p0300(only on WOT)

I can hear a faint grinding noise in that clip on top of the normal DI noise, I don't think that is an electrical/ spark plug issue though. Maybe the noise is coming from the serpentine belt or PS pump.

If it is a pulley the noise will get worse, you will find out one way or another.

Side note: probably should not do WOT pulls with mismatched spark plugs, seems like a recipe for knock.

I just did a smoke test on my EGR to figure out whether the gasket would need to be replaced, or whether the EGR needs to be cleaned/replaced. I did some research on the EGR to see where it was actually leaking, and I came across a post that said the MAF sensor needed replacement as it was causing this type of leak. Before I go down a spiral of whats wrong here, would anyone happen to know? The leak is the the middle between where the EGR plug is, and the bottom of the EGR. I want to guess its, what I show in this picture here.EGR leak pic.png

I know this is an old post, but not sure how to contact shivvering directly (noob). I am trying to track down a crappy idle and high LTFT (perhaps indicating an air leak). I hav the same (smoke) leak that shiverring describes and am wondering if that is normal, or an indication that it needs to be replace. It is the only air leak I can find on the intake side. Shiverring, if you still check this forum could you let me know what you found out? Thanks.

If you're talking about the smoke leak at the EGR, it is not normal. I replaced my EGR with a used one, which worked for a few weeks before developing a leak in the same spot. I decided to just buy a block off kit at that point which fixed the problem indefinitely.

The EGR fix was a minor difference though. I believe it was my BOV leaking from the O ring at the top which caused the lean condition.

If you're able to give me more information, I could try to help you as well!

I am trying to troubleshoot a misfire during cold startup, ( the LTFT jumps to 15, and the vacuum is like 12, until about 30 seconds after start and them it magically drops). The misfire trips the CEL with a Misfire on Cyl #2 code, or general misfire. I posted on here for some help, and Enki is helping out (seems to really know the platform). My LTFT is also high at idle, so I was looking for sources of air leaks, hence the smoke test. The EGR leak was the only one I could find. I saw on another source on the web (forget where) the a leak at that location of the EGR was normal. Seems odd I must say. I guess I could open it up and have a look, may it's gummed up and not sealing? I suppose I could jam some plumbers putty in the opening during start-up and see if that helps. Couldn't you see the BOV O-ring leaking on the smoke test?

It was weird actually. I had to smoke test from different location on the intake side to actually find the leak. The BOV leak was found by a mechanic, before i started doing work on my car myself. When I did my research on the EGR, it was not a normal occurance. I wasn’t able to fix it by opening up the top either because my screws was rusted and it was easier to just replace it.

I think overall, it is better to just install a block off plate since it helps with carbon buildup. The whole that smoke was coming out or for me is built to release under pressure i believe but i could be wrong.

I actually already did. This was kind of a side issue (potentially). And since it was dead-on what I was looking for I figured would ping shiverring directly to see if he found a solution. I have Enki helping me out on the other post.
