Recall #2 because of stupid Americans.
Recall #1 is because Americans are too stupid to know what brake malfunction icons are, so the Gubment requires "BRAKE" on the screen.
2 stop sales because Americans are stupid. No recall in Europe or Canada because they have higher standards for their drivers.
I would honestly call vw the stupid one here since these refs have existed for like 40 years and they didn't catch it

Just went out in the rain to check but 2013 Mazda cx-5 and 2025 Honda Odyssey both say brake.
The cx-5 did have a red brake symbol and the word in red as well as separate orange text that said brake issue
Haven't had a brake issue in anything newer to say for sure

I was actually referring to air cooled engines. From the factory, they all came with push on hoses for fueling that would degrade over time and were a maintenance item. Most people wouldn't replace them, so on fire they caught. And once the magnesium blocks caught, well, you weren't exactly putting that out easily.
