Speedie6's MS6 upgrade

My MS6 has been sitting in my garage since 2013 or so. I f'ed it up. I had trouble deciding to drop yet more cash into it. It was my first, and really only performance car and I didn't know what I was doing. And wound up dropping way more money into than I should have.

But, I finally decided that I should poop or get off the pot and decided to go ahead and build it. I probably shouldn't even be posting here because it really isn't my build, not my work. Being done by a shop in Houston. Kozmic Motorsports. Well, I did a little here and there myself. I put in a custom FMIC and hacked my crash bar, stuff like that. But the heavy work of putting in the engine, fuel system, clutch is being done by the shop.

I ordered the engine from Speed Perf6manc3 and waiting for delivery, hopefully in a week or so. The plan is for about 600 whp. Here is the project build list as it stands:

Speed Perf6manc3 built motor, stage II+ with Kelford 247C cams, JMF intake manifold with port injection, port-inject fuel kit, XClutch twin disk organic clutch, brass shift fork pads, Precision Turbo PT6062 (w/Ceramic), Tial wastegate & BPV -- CPE cast exhaust manifold w/ceramic, rearward rear diff mount, Guagepod, TowPlate -- Damond Motor Mount Set, PVC plate, power steering cooler -- Corksport throttle body, stage II big brake kit, skid plate, 4” intake -- TurbineTech forward rear differential mount -- Cobb AccessPort -- RPM Sport springs, Bilstein Shocks, SPC ball joints, AWR end links (F&R) -- TWM Stage-1 Short shifter with bushings -- Street Unit radiator hose set, Whiteline swaybars -- custom exhaust, custom FMIC, custom downpipe

Sure, and I'll post pics. Still waiting on the engine. I actually ordered the engine back in January. But they have had some delays on building the thing. But it is should be ready soon. They were waiting on the Kelford cams last I heard but should be in around now.

You might want to look at stepping up to a 4" intake. Is that 6062 a JB ? What in tank fuel pump are you running for PI or is that a separate system?

I don’t really know what the HP range is that you need to go to 4”. I was thinking 3.5” would be sufficient and my shop hasn’t said otherwise. The fueling is being done with a surge tank setup from Speed Performance. Thanks for replying.

Cool build! I'm glad to hear your engine and other parts are starting to show up! Looking forward to there updates

Subbed.
I'm also curious on how the port injection is being supplied. I read surge tank, and not fuel cell, so I'm wondering if the port injection and hpfp are supplied by the same line and where it splits.

The tech at Kozmic who is their Mazda guy was booked up until October, so, I'm still in a holding pattern. But, here is the instructions provided by Speed Performance on installing the fueling kit.FuelKit1.jpg FuelKit2.jpg FuelKit3.jpg FuelKit4.jpg FuelKit5.jpg FuelKit6.jpg FuelKit7.jpg

Great news, your car will be ready sooner than later.

Will it be turn key ready once the Kozmic tech is done?

Well, basically. Though they won't turn it for performance until broken in. Speed Performance's break-in procedure is REDICULOUS. They want me to change the oil at 50 miles, 150, 250, 500, and 1000. That's 5 oil changes by 1000 miles. After the 1000 miles then I will take it back to tune for performance.

They didn't ask for receipts. But, I will do it. They specified conventional, not synthetic for break-in. Now, from what I've read, the idea the conventional is better for break-in is bunk, but, it is cheaper. And sufficient given the short mileage per oil change, conventional will be fine. So, I found 5Q bottles of basic QuakerState oil on Amazon for $16 each, so I bought 6. And I found some WIX filters for about $5 so I bought 4 of them. At the 1000 mile marker, I will put it higher end oil and filter. I feel it is excessive but I will do per the builder's instructions.
