I felt the same when I got rid of mine last month. It was actually a relief. To me it was "yeah it was fun, but I needed a truck" and now I don't regret it.

Would I buy another one in the future? Probably. It was a great car that was pretty quick. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one of these cars to someone if they were serious about a 4 cylinder turbo car.
Relief is the same word I use to describe how I felt when the car was sold. Big relief.

I would definitely also recommend the car to people if they asked. I enjoyed. Had my fun. But I guess near the end there I just got so fed up and that’s the last feeling I had with that car. Stress and “this isn’t fun anymore”. Probably why I feel the way I do.

funny enough the guy who bought my forged motor has really been enjoying it. To think it was just an oil pump away from being all good again. Just let’s me know even more I was over it and just needed to move on. I knew it was just the oil pump.

You also were using the car for a specific purpose and realized that you had chosen an inferior starting point. You started at wanting to have fun on a track in your ms3 and evolved to wanting to beat everyone in your class.

Due to the way the classes are structured in that time of racing you need to either have a shitload of money or buy the car that dominates. I guess you could be like @phate and just stubborn too.

It's not surprising that you are good with the decision

Phate is up for sale, so I guess it gets the best of us.

Yep, saw it on facebook, the shell is for sale with all suspension parts and spares. Can't find it now because Facebook search is garbage.

You’re absolutely right. And this makes a ton of sense. For my purposes I had to move on. It just came to that time, my needs changed over the years and I started to more towards the race scene. It happens.

I saw phate’s car for sale on the facebooks and just thought “damn”. I’m not going to act like I was a big deal in the Mazdaspeed time attack world but I can say I’ve documented a lot more then most on the topic, and probably have taken the car to the road course more then most.
As with my own selling of the car, I guess phate has come to the same realization that there is more to be had on other platforms, money spending aside. Spend the same somewhere else and get more ? For racing anyways this is the way. It makes sense.

sad to see the phate’s car go but I hope whoever buys it continues to race the hell out of it. Wish my car sold to a track guy.

I'm ready to move on, but it's not a next platform sort of thing. I want to experience a different challenge in designing my own car and aero from scratch in an unlimited class.

The 6 is phenomenal, it's a riot to drive and it's extremely capable. I feel like I'm at a point where there's very little left, and I don't think I'm willing to move it up a class to SM, because even SM won't scratch the itch I have.

Exocet......?

I always assumed you would go for broke and put a giant turbo on the six for one last season before you moved on

Yeah, I'd love to, and I mapped out a full SM build to see if it could be competitive. I think it could, but it's a ton of work and cost. It's above the spend:engineering ratio I want to be at LOL.

Sounds like you got what you wanted out of the build. Took it as far as you saw fit. Now ready for a new build, new challenge, and new trials and tribulations. That’s part of it. While not my driving reason for making the swap it’s definitely part of it.

Well I checked the dealer listing and the car has now sold! It’s gone.

wonder how long till someone starts asking about it on Facebook lol
