Timing

Im doing the timing chain after removing the chain which had slack the vvt sprocket had a lot of play in it. So I'm thinking the marks will be out so there's no guarantee the new sprocket will be aligned I have the cam plate installed and the motor is TDC with the pin installed how do I install the sprocket basically from scratch with relying on the marks
