andale927's PTE 5558 Gen 2 Build (Built Engine)

What short shift plates are you guys using?

I have Ford fluid, damond plate, and stratified extender and have no complaints. I used to have the original jbr plate and it would miss going into third all the time

The plate plus extender gets me basically back to stock throw but much higher and easier to reach

Best mod I made was to grease the shifter pivot.

Oh and I have solid shifter bushings but I assume everyone has those at this point
JBR SSP, third was poop definitely missed that before I did solid shifter bushings now I can't recall the last time I missed it. I've been tempted to get the CS shifter assembly because of the adjustable height (would get JBR but doesn't have height adjustment iirc).

Also running redline MTL fluid, I'm gen 2 thinking of swapping to tribodyn

I was running a damond SSP and MTL and felt the same way until I uninstalled it on a whim.

Seriously though you need to take apart the console and get some white lithium grease on the shifter pivot, I even hit the ends of the shifter cables. I'm at 115,000 miles and it is amazing the difference it made.

I got the ebay knock off JRB shifter assembly and it's been great. I did lube all the things while I was in there. I have not have not had any shifting issues. With my extension I think I am closer to OEM but I am happy with the setup.

Got my anti lift kit installed along with a stiffer front bushing. The front end feels nice and stiff again. Also installed these Ground Control camber plates to replace my CS plates. The adjustment mechanism is much sturdier, kinda ruined the CS plates adjusting them with the suspension loaded.

Also did another 60-130 pull with a little bit more boost in 5th gear:

I want to try to push the setup a little harder, so I'm richening the AFRs to 11.5ish and installing a meth kit, before adding a bit more timing up top. I'm really enjoying trying to get every last bit out of this poor 5558 lol.

Is TWM still making full replacement shifters? Those feel much better than the plates.

edit: Looks like TWM went belly up a while ago.

I happen to have a CoolingMist Stage 2 kit to part with, if you're needing to purchase a methanol kit. I just need to either yank my ST mani out so I can remove the tb spacer and nozzles, or figure out a fair price to sell it at without those pieces.

Thanks for the offer but I also have a kit from previous install lol

No amount of coolant hose heat wrap/shielding has kept them safe from this manifold. It's very close to the hose. I've been thinking about wrapping mine up actually. I've heard the wrapping can cause some nasty rusting/corrosion problems in climates that aren't nice and dry like AZ, but that might be an option.
Actually i have mine spray heat coat 3 layers first and 2 more after, the i wrapped it so far after 4 yrs and 70k after everuthing else still intact,,and we do get a lot of heat here in vegas..

They are some impressive numbers on both turbos. If the VDs are accurate 300 ft-lbs by 3200 rpm on the 5558 and 400 ft-lbs by 4k on the 7163. It's hard to see which one is making more power in the lower rpm as the VDs dont start from the same place. as it is obvious you are tailoring the boost curve on the 5558 (Just like we used to do on big turbo stock rod evos). I know you mentioned the 5558 might spool faster than the 7163? Looking at the VDs as far as power in the 3000-3500 range it doesnt look like it? Please correct me if I am wrong. Nice build btw.

Man I wish the DBB pte turbos were cheaper. I personally have had too many JB pte turbos fail on me to go back to their cheaper options.

Before you do a bunch of crazy valve stuff, you might also verify that all of your PCV stuff is set up correctly. I had big smoking problems when I was running a single can and didn't have proper vacuum from the crankcase under deceleration. I also thought it was valve seal/guide related, but that ended up being fixed when I got a proper dual can setup and routed them properly.
So you are running a normal can from the pcv back to the intake manifold? And that fixed your decel oil burn?
