You could do the cams without pulling the motor, it would just require some more patience.

Would it be the end of the world if you did switch cams back to a stock like setup?

You have such an exotic setup that it seems like you have barely scratched the surface on, maybe it would be easier for you to progress the tune with a stock like cam?
 
Plan established.

Gonna go full VTA with a couple cheap parts from Amazon (to arrive on Tues); both ports on the Radium plate will have hoses dropped to just below oil pan height, and the currently capped off rear valve cover port will get a breather. If this adds a bunch of power, I'll invest in a Pu valve cover and some other shit to sort it out, though I'll need to monitor oil consumption to see if it improves or just leaves a greasy trail behind me wherever I go (obviously I won't be permitted to race on a track lol).

My pistons are already gas ported so I'm not worried about ring sealing.

This is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest route forward to determine if it will be worth going forward on this engine in the future.
 
Couldn't make the VC breather work, so just dual 5/8" hoses strapped to the CS cross brace.

Looks like I need to start over on the tune, provided I'm not losing oil faster than I was previously. Speaking of which, I wound up having to wash the intercooler out, and all the existing pcv hoses were full of oil (the PCV valve was gunked shut too).

Anyways, here's the results of this test:

Dunno, maybe hit a good patch of timing or something, or the rings finally sealed for the first time. Lol

I think I just need to start over on the tune, and dial it in properly.
 


Interesting turn of events; car has woken up (as above, about 3k rpm to 7500 blip), seems to smoke a touch less. Oil consumption unknown to my eye so might also have improved (seems unchanged after a single pull, but hard to tell).

Since I'll be gaining about 6-10% fueling up top, might be time for the 15 PSI spring (though I probably won't because lazy:

Fueling corrections I'll be making tomorrow (using my fitted curve spreadsheet):
MAFV = Adjustment
1.18v = 0.977
1.88v = 0.937
3.00v = 1.0000
3.50v = 0.9469
4.00v = 0.9422
4.10v = 0.9093
4.20v = 0.9306
 
Rev 1, fuel only. Fucked up on the math (didn't doublecheck values), so had to redo the CAL (17.5 AFR at idle). Looking better, but I bet that that dip up top is actually still crankcase evac related.

Done fucking with it for the week; hit 4.14v due to temps, so down on power a bit. Had my pops in the car as well; neither of us remember anything other than a smooth pull, so not sure if the bump is logging lag or the rings sealing properly.

Checked oil level again prior to this pull (beat the shit out of it today) and again, can't tell if there's any oil loss, so seriously considering buying a new Genpu VC.

If you cant find a gen2 valve cover, just modify yours and be done with it.

I swapped the baffle cover for perforated sheeting on mine, here is a pic. The breather holes are bigger on the gen2 than the gen1/ms6.

So if you want gen2 venting, just drill the holes out a little wider and make a splatter shield for the oil cap like how Maisonvi did to his a while back. Again... if you cannot find a gen 2 valve cover.
