Base map logs sent. 2 maf cal, 2 wot @3-5k, idle log.
Let's do this. We're also going to discuss our live tuning session. We're going to street tune it until we can finish up on the dyno.

Onto the 2nd revision on E48. Car is breaking up pretty bad. These logs were supposed to be 3-7k and i backed off since shit didn't feel right. Tuna thinks ignition related or possible vacuum leak. I suspect i may have fake NGK plugs. They looked great though when i pulled them recently to do a compression check. Spark plug gap is set at .020

Ahh much better. I smoke leak tested and found nothing. I boost leak tested and found the hose from my brake booster leaking. Replaced the clamp and it held pressure fine at 32psi. I removed the spark plugs and they definitely needed to be replaced. Gapped the new plugs to .020 and stretched my coil pack springs while i was in there. These two logs are much cleaner.

Just sent Rev. D logs to tuna. Feels neat for sure, but Will says i should be building more boost pressure. This is the same issue i had last time (previous engine) when we pulled it off the dyno after 1 pull. I do not think it's a boost leak as i recently fixed the leak i discovered. What do you guys think? EBCS?

Does seem pretty slow, he brings on WGDC as soon as you hit it but the boost crawls to 20 psi. Turbo should be more responsive than that. Is the turbo healthy? I would just bypass the EBCS and do new lines and run a line straight from the turbo to the wastegate. What spring do you have in the gate?

The turbo is healthy. Same BW257sxe from previous engines. It probably only has 6k or less miles on it. I have 21psi of spring pressure in the Tial EWG. "Fire ring" in place.

If he's actually trying to force spool (doesn't look like it) then there are some tune related issues; high timing, lean instead of rich, VVT not maxed, WGDC not maxed.

Also, don't fall in the "spring pressure" trap. WG spring pressure has nothing to do with actual boost pressure and everything to do with exhaust backpressure. It's entirely possible to have the WG open up well below actual "spring pressure" depending on engine conditions and WG design.

If he has a 21lb spring in it and is only seeing 23 psi at 55% wgdc that seems pretty low. A 21 lb spring should "in theory" make up to 42lbs of boost before it can't hold anymore. He should not have to request 100% wgdc to get the turbo to spool quickly to spring pressure. It does look like the tune could be cleaned up a little but that is usually icing on the cake unless it is way off "which I would doubt with his tuner" Are you sure the wastegate is not leaking boost? Have you bench checked it with compressed air to see it open and close?
