Low oil pressure...

Hoping this fixed it for you man! I'm sure your son will be super happy if it did. I hope he's been helping you wrench

I don't have a son that I know about, but if I do he better get to helping! Haha, I appreciate the sentiment though

BABY I'M BACK!

Got her all buttoned up yesterday and she is running strong. I put 30 miles on it last night to shake it down, and drove another 30 into work today. Hoping it doesn't save the fireworks for the drive home, but so far so good. Oil pressure between 19 and 22, as long as the coolant temps stay in check. The Koyorad is certainly helping me, but I am still pissed about the SP63 fan controller debacle, hope someone makes a decent one at some point.

Thanks to everyone for tuning in and giving their $0.02. Glad to see the speed community still kicking!

What SP63 fan controller drama do you speak of?

I bought one about two years ago, and the potentiometer on it was no good. Could not adjust temp. So I got with them, sent it back, they confirmed the pot as defective, and sent me another unit. Tried unit #2, another bad pot. Sent it back, they confirmed it was junk. Sent me a 3rd unit, guess what? Junk potentiometer. When I get in touch with them the next time, they said that was their last one and that they are not going to make them anymore. So I got refunded my money and still have temps well above where I want them.

You mean to tell me you don't like how warm the car runs normally with the OEM fan controller? Common now it's something we've all come to know and "love" lol

At least it is curing the paint on my VC and IC piping nicely..... Lol

It just sucks - when the engine gets over like 192 consistently, I lose a couple psi of oil pressure at idle. Have since I built it. I heard people say an upgraded radiator would keep it from ever getting close, I can confirm that is not true. Lol

Few psi down at idle when everything is super hot shouldn’t really be a major issue lol. Pretty much normal?

Youre probably right, but i just pucker a little bit when I'm baking in stop and go traffic with 17 psi lol.

I have to admit too, that I haven't stalled my car near this much probably ever. Going from the nothingness in my 19 Tacoma's clutch pedal to the ACT 6 puck is getting the best of me.

yea after some seriously hard driving I see as low as 18psi on idle but it quickly jumps up as oil temps come down.

act 6 puck is definitely a bit of a change lol. I like the setup but it takes a little adjusting to for sure

I've put 100 miles on it since putting it back together, and it runs well, but I am still not that happy with some of what I'm seeing. My temps still jump up and try to stay up with the new radiator. Nowhere near as bad as with the stock rad, but I really thought it would bring my coolant temps down a little bit faster than it does. Subsequently, I have seen oil fluttering as low as 15-16 under hot idle. I am going to try adding a little more coolant to my mix - I am at about 75/25 water/concentrate. But, I'm wondering about my oil too. I run t6 right now, and it doesn't deal with the temperature as well as I remember. Would I be out of my mind to run a 5w-50 synthetic?

Sucks but at least it sounds like they did the best they could.

Do you have all of the shrouding reinstalled around the radiator? Undertray installed?

Yeah they were really cool about it, it was just my luck that none of the last 3 kits on the market worked for me.

And of course not lol, my little chin splitter chipped off last year - not sure if I'm sealing much without that. Been contemplating taking the ac condenser out and putting a manual push slim fan on the front

Put the under tray on and one side baffle. Missing the other I guess.

Does anyone run oil coolers?

Yeah I know it, I just had left that stuff off to make sure I don't have any leaks. All good, so it is back on.

I think I will take the front clip back off in the near future and try to seal that up better, as well as remove my condenser while I am in there. Don't have any refrigerant anyway.
