Welp,


im getting pretty sick of this shit. If you go through my thread you’ll see a pattern. Every single spring I bring the car out and it spends 1-2 months being broken. Being down. Something wrong.

here in Ontario, Canada, the good driving weather is only about 4-5 months at most. I built this car to DRIVE IT. Driving it is my relaxation and peace. It makes me happy. Being broken literally always does not make me happy.

I’m very close to bringing it to my shop, pulling the motor. Stock block back in. Full full part out. Buy a fiesta ST, tires wheels and brakes. And probably run similar laptimes to the speed. What an annoying thing. The shop it’s at they don’t/can’t weld so now this is my problem. I don’t know guys...shits getting frustrating here. I just want a working car.

When you get there let me know, I'm willing to negotiate price for a MSFer if were interested.

The FiST is a hell of a little bean. I don't regret selling my Genpu for it. No torque steer and it goes into corners way more composed than the MS3. If I didn't have a slightly more modified MS6 I would keep it as a beater/track car.

Good luck with your car, hope you can get the flex pipe fixed quick. I doubt we are in the same areas but if need help with anything I'm alway happy to wrench... once we get this pandemic under control.

Lol you’re right. I was SO pissed when I got that news. I picked the car up today. Apparently the lead tech was like over loaded busy(he gets a little moody when that happens) and he just told other guy to message me and say my flex pipe is fucked. Welp now I have the whole story, the flex pipe itself looks fine on the exterior. No rips or tears nothing. It looks fine. Except for soot. He told me “yea so the inside probably cracked and it’s leaking a bit. Get it fixed, you know we would’ve if we had a welding guy”. I was like lol fuck man...I totally read that message I received in the worst way possible. Best part is he hooked me up so ridiculously hard on labor cost so that was fantastic lol. It was a shock much cheaper then expected.

well car drives great! I miss the act though. The oem style setup just feels so soggy and loose...and it hangs the revs like they do not drop quickly enough compared to the act setup. Benefit? It’s so nice to drive. Stock clutch is so soft I thought something was broken. Expecting stiff pedal pressure and NOPE lol.

I did all my logs today for Will, vdyno is reading a nice 350whp 330wtq and it’s feeling real, real good.

hoping for a nice revision from Will soon. I think he’ll either take away boost or rpm. At 7500rpm I’m at 108idc. Basically past ~6500 I’m outta fuel.

I’m of the same mindset. I received my car back yesterday with the flex pipe fixed(guys did a great job super quick too) and I received a new map from Will yesterday as well. Loaded the map and cruised around. It’s been pouring rain every single day so I couldn’t really get into it. It seems he brought the boost in a little sooner but less over all boost. Seems to be down about 1-2psi which I’m ok with. I want that 7500rpm+. Will did some fancy throttle mapping I noticed yesterday. Need to drive around some more and get my logs but the weather ain’t allowing that anytime soon it looks like. Boo.

Just to add, the car will be getting looked at by kinda a ledgend in the time attack world tonight. I’m having either
A) my hotside charge pipe remade
Or
B) having the entire piping kit remade.

I’m having issues keeping the hotside from popping off and it’s to do with the new manifolds that pipe does not fit properly and is now stressed and has no mounting/support of any kind. So I’ll be having them fix that. I’m sure it ain’t gonna be cheap but this kit was originally built in 2016 on my car and it has been flawless since. Wasn’t cheap but it was well well worth it.

There’s probably cheaper more rinky dink solutions to that charge pipe not fitting but honestly a car that sees as many miles each season as mine, not to mention the amount of track time...I don’t want “cheap cheap” I want reliability. Gotta pay for it. That’s fine with me lol.

So, I took my car by that shop tonight to have him look at my setup.

right away he noticed a few things that were less then ideal but I explained with the stock setup it worked great.

Basically I need him to refab my piping kit to fit properly, and I need my intercooler raised up about 10”

well, right away he told me why raising my intercooler wouldn’t work. How the fuck did I not notice this for so many years lol


The inlet/outlet on my intercooler is dead center and they are within a few inches of hitting the frame rails on either side so it cannot be raised up. Jeez. Most are near the bottom allowing the core to be mounted up high. Mine looks like such shit how it is with the GV grill now.

so he told me what they’d do is chop my end tanks off, weld on some proper ones and refit it properly. LOL. This is insane to me. 99.99% of shops would say “throw that intercooler out buy a new one” so to have someone willing to work with parts I already have? Fuck yea. That’s awesome.

so I guess my decision, do I have him reuse my mishimoto j line intercooler core, and I’ll sell my piping as a kit to someone with a stock manifold setup, or do I sell my whole entire fmic as a kit and purchase a new (maybe better? core)?
I’m tempted to reuse my mishi core. Even he said it’s fine for my modest power goals and being a littler smaller it’ll help with that engine response I crave.

he leaves end of may for pikes peak(just recently rebuilt his civic after a 160mph meeting with the wall at road Atlanta) so he’ll either start my car ASAP and finish it before he leaves, or he’ll work on my car when he returns mid June. So for now I’ll hairspray my couplers and tighten the shit outta everything lol.

I’ve dreamt of this many times lol. When I bring my car in I’ll ask him about some options but V mount might just be out of reach for right now. I’m sure we’ll come up with something good though.

Well today’s update....

more growing pains with the car lol. Jeez.
I took Thursday Friday off this week as my birthday was Thursday. It was also the nicest sunniest warmest day we’ve had in a while so that was a bonus!

took the car out for a nice long drive around the city(I had some running around to do).

everything started off pretty normal. Until I got to the city(about an hour from home). Went to take off from a light and give it some sauce...no sauce. Like 2psi and 9’s for afr. Uh oh. Here I am assuming charge pipe again which has been pretty common lately. Well it wasn’t charge pipe this time lol.



Oof. All the hardware on my PI rail rattled it self loose. I lost one bolt while the other 3 were almost all the way backed out. Damn lol. Here I am stranded on my birthday haha. Well, I got kinda lucky I guess. Before panicking I realized im in the city. There’s about 20000 performance shops all around me. Great. So I plugged that injector back in, zip tied it down and babied it to the nearest shop...which was 2KM’s from my break down location. Perfect.

well I went by the shop, guy comes out. Takes my car in. 10 minutes later he comes back out. “I replaced all the bolts and loctited everything. You should be good”. I hit him with the “what do I owe you” and got a nice “oh don’t worry about it, have a nice day”. Damn lol. This guy took all of 15 minutes out of his day to help me and literally saved my whole entire day. Awesome. Lucky me.


well after my pit stop at this shop I headed back to my known logging roads to log Wills latest map. I was honestly unsure what to expect but the results...LOOK AT THAT TORQUE CURVE. I mean that’s pretty thick for a baby turbo with a 15 year old design right? Only reason boost drops up top is cause no fuel. In these logs im peaking out about 96%idc at 7600rpm. Will leaned this map out, pulled out a little boost, and added ALL the timing. This is 94 pump ONLY. NO PI YET.

Sure feels freaking good. I’m in peak torque for over 2500rpm. This is basically all of the power I wanted. Guess I’m good now LOL.


Im not sure the exact reason, but the SMOOTH power delivery and torque delivery, lack of that big torque hit the ko4/stock manifolds leave you with has REALLY helped the car gain traction. I can power out of corners like never before and by the time I need full power we’re already in full power. It’s quick. Real real quick. Quicker then I can push on the streets anyways lol. Damn. Very happy with the tune so far.

Currently tracking down a p300 during cold start only(like after car sits over night). My guess is a nasty vacuum leak somewhere but otherwise I’m not really sure?? Any suggestions? It does not happen on warm starts. Only ice cold. My cold starts are pretty ugly but I blame the vtcs delete for that.

this p300 shit started after I got the car back from clutch replacement. I’m thinking my intake may be leaking or one of the charge pipes. Some vacuum leak somewhere. I think. Guessing the guys didn’t put something back on perfectly now leaving me with this shit. Any ideas would be nice

Called Will. Talked to him on the phone for about 25 minutes. Basically, at this point, the car isn’t doing anything. It’s barely awake according to Will. With PI, Will told me the car has an easy high 400’s to 500whp in it with my setup. That’s insane lol. I really only thought this turbo was good for high 300’s but due to the fact I’m not on the crappy iwg ATP hotside, I can really take advantage of this thing. Nice.

for my current time arrack class my power numbers are perfect. I’ll mainly be competing with stock powered coyote mustangs, C5’s and bolt on 370z’s. So all within similar power numbers there.

next steps for me before turning PI on is to make sure everything else on the car is 100% dialed before messing around with adding more to it. I’m definitely more excited to turn PI on now that I know the car has a ton of headroom left.

I think so. Specially since I’m carrying some good power up there. It should be a big difference. According to Will, with fuel I’d be set for 8000rpm if I wanted, but I think 7600 is plenty.

If the motor can take it spin it. Remember that power to the ground is output multiplied by gear ratio so even if you are dropping off on the top end it should still be more power to the wheels in the lower gear. Plus it gives you more options on how to attack corners

I’m pretty comfortable at 7600rpm. Not sure about 8k though lol. Probably leave it at 7600 for now.

the new rpm from what I’ve experienced on the street is pretty awesome to have. It’s helpful on corner exit being able to modulate the throttle and having extra rpm to play around with vs having to up shift right away is fantastic. I think it’ll be a huge help on track. I used to run out of gear in a few different places.
