Building for the road course...again

Messed around with the harness a bit. disconnected a few parts then reseated. also tested continuity from the ECU to the knock sensor and it is strong. no issues here. Plugged everything back in since i couldnt find any issues.

Went for another test drive. Same route as last time. The check engine light didn’t come on. That’s nice.

The knock signal is definitely reaching the ecu as I can watch the signal via Hondata. It’s stronger in today’s wot log but still a lot less overall vs any of my previous engines.

Potentially a bad ground? Not sure what else. Maybe it’s fine now? Just seems too low compared to the cars usual. I know some of my grounds are beat up and probably hanging on by threads so ill remake 2 of them today and we'll see if the knock noise increases back to normal

lol I’m having the opposite issue. The ecu ISNT seeing enough knock signal. It’s actually like “yo. Wtf. Why we not hearing anything from the knock sensor? Throw code”.

it’s the opposite problem. My car typically has a very very loud knock signal. Always noisy but now it’s very quiet. I can see it in the logs knock noise is almost nothing but you can definitely see the signal is making its way to the ecu so idk?

Today map in red vs last weeks in blue. Logged back to back. Same road. Same direction. Same starting point. My logs are always as consistent as humanly possible.

That 7ftlbs of torque feels amazing. I know it’s not much but for NA where all he modified was most likely vtc, that’s huge. Feels strong for what it is. Damn. I’m always impressed when he finds power somehow

I immediately felt the gain from ~4000rpm upwards. Very nice

This is how the day finished up. Did a lot of logs, different maps. Tuner found some power everywhere.

red and blue were 2 maps back to back. Same road. Same starting point. Same direction. Clearly the red one saw some torque spike or something weird but I can confidently say I’m probably around 212whp and 160ftlbs which is actually really good for a stock k20. It feels every bit of it. Definitely improvements from the first map to now.

Clutch pedal assembly fucking snapped on the way home. That was shit. Just floated the gears to get home. It wasn’t terrible but I also hated it.

Getting into my garage was fucking trouble. Tried to go in front first which I’ve never done. Just started the engine in first gear and fucking sent it. Hit my tire stack and fucked up the front end a little.

I don’t even care about the clutch pedal. It’s a known issue on the chassis so whatever but the front end damage really pisses me off. I’ll have to unbend some stuff

Picked up a mint clutch pedal lastnight for $60. Also picked up the reinforcement brace thingy to avoid this issue in the future.

Still pissed about the front end though. That’s gonna be a real pain in my ass

Like nothing happened

I call it the 2 foot fix. From 2 feet away it’s perfect. Any closer…yaya it’s a beat up civic leave me alone
More than anything it’s symmetrical to the otherside and that’s what counts lol

Broken

This thing must’ve been hanging on for dear life for a while cause yea. It’s very broken lol.

YouTube made the job seem impossible. Special tools required and what not. I was stressing about it but ended up being no more than 20-30 minutes in and out. Not a big deal.

I did rotate the clutch master rod around and messed up my pedal adjustment but that’ll be a later fix. Took the car for a test drive and it’s all good!!

Well I applied to fortune auto my coilover brand for a sponsorship and it looks like they’ve accepted. Decals are being sent next week.

Discount has been offered on rebuild/upgrade of my current Coilovers. This is sick lol. I’m a nobody but sponsorships help!! Even if it’s just a discount that’s better than nothing

You send them your times when you were playin with the big boys on a dumpster engine? I'm sure that helped if you did.

There was a pretty specific application I had to fill out. Asking all sorts of shit about the car, current build, future plans, all sorts of shit. Cars usage. Blah blah.

Then they ask what I can offer them and why I’m worthy.

I filled it out well. I mentioned the class I compete in. Mentioned the competition. Posted my podium pictures between 2 turbo cars with aero. I have some professionally taken track photos which I think went along way. You can see my tuners decal and my shops decal. The red pops. It’s a billboard.

I mentioned the car gets a ton of attention because it’s an NA k20. Not a 24, not turbo. I’m different. And the car isn’t slow. I’m a great candidate to sell their suspension because the car is what it is.

I guess that was solid enough for them lol. Probably very different

Yeah I mean if you're podium with turbo AWD aero cars and you're running an outwardly sleeper NA 4 banger, I'd wager a lot of people would be wondering what your edge is.

I hope they didn't get pictures of his massive balls....

I was considering having my coilovers upgraded into 2ways with remote reservoirs.

My one series the rule book says no remote reservoirs allowed. but 600hp? no problem. thats allowed.
My other series, no problem. Ive already taken the penalty for coilovers so i can have 4 ways if i want.

LOL this is dumb. i hate dealing with 2 rule books that are SO different

I feel like rulebooks are strict about shocks because you can spend an absolute insane amount of money on them

This is true. While one rule book kinda accepts this and lets it be, the other rule book must be trying to keep costs down. The way the rule is written is dumb though. 2 way dampers are allowed but no remote reservoirs.

The other series just says “oh you have coilovers? Just take this penalty and good enough” basically this allows people to get away with whatever they want but this series is insanely strict on power and aero while the other isn’t. The differences make it hard to be competitive in both series
