Building for the road course...again

That's probably by design. If you build a car for one series, it will be harder for you to compete in the other, forcing your to either build another car or refit to leave that series.

My buddy said the same. This is probably on purpose.

I just don’t get it though. I know the two series are very different, nerds vs fast and furious basically. But why not make the rules more similar? This would allow people to compete in both series without being forced to build for one or the other.

For money making, isn’t it better to make things easier for competitors?

If a car can compete in both then you have choices on where to go each weekend if it is built for one then you are stuck going there

This is kinda my goal. I can go to whichever event is at the track I want or works for my schedule.

I guess I should stay with this goal. Gives me more options for competition. Just means I won’t be optimized for either rule book. Like I gotta put my rear interior back in which sucks

What about quick release stuff?
You can buy magnetic sheets to stick to the floor with carpet glued to it to pass visual probably.

The rear deck plastic and the dead’s are the heaviest. Around 40-45lbs there. The rest adds up to maybe another 10-15lbs.

I was thinking of getting some sub box carpet and making a rear seat delete panel but that’s still outside of the rules and I could be protested.

In the one series, I’d take penalties which I’m not sure is worth the gain of the weight reduction.

In the other series, it’s kinda like if no one says anything you’re fine. It’s still a risk cause if you’re waxing everyone someone will find a reason to get you in shit

The last competition of the season is September 14th. I’m trying to move down a class cause of my engine downgrade. I just don’t have that little bit extra anymore and track has 2 long straights where I’ll just be throwing time away.

If I move down a class I’ll be in a much better spot BUT rear interior has to go back in, and technically I need 245 wide tires. I am considering just rolling the dice on my 255’s hoping no one notices or says anything. I’ll put the rear interior back in that’s fine but I don’t wanna buy tires

Took a half day at work today and fucked off to the track. Wanted to give the car a shakedown before I register for Mondays track day.

The weather was fantastic today. Cool air temps but plenty of sun warming the ground. Ideal conditions.

The car has the 8500rpm German safety tune so pistons should be happy. Keep in mind this is a bone stock fb marketplace special engine. It was low on compression in 2 cylinders.

The car is fucking fast. I can’t explain it. I’m down mph on the straights but that’s expected. The rest of the car was phenomenal and even this engine has a wide torque band thanks to the great tune on it.

My PB is 1:12.3 with brand new tires and Built engine.
Today I went 1:12.4 and it felt effortless. 3 event old tires.

This car has such a high ceiling and I love it. Stupid fucking GoPro died before that lap so no video but whatever. The data will be exciting. I did try some different shit in a few places and that must’ve paid huge

I could probably get all of the currently for sale engines for like 3k total. Much less than another build lol.

I do have my engine at the machine shop though. Hopefully I have a power upgrade for next season that actually lasts. This current engine id like to keep as a spare

In all seriousness I would grab another cheap one as a backup to the backup.
Might be the move. For sure I need 1 backup.

I kinda wanna do a budget built back up using the cheap rods and cheap oem style pistons available. I think that would be cool but it’s money

The cylinders go oval over time. Can’t just stuff new pistons in there unfortunately. Need machine work and all that.

Maybe a stock unfucked with engine is the best spare lol

Low enough mileage and dgaf attitude means a little oval isn't the worst blowby just need something stronger so you can spin the piss out of it

I definitely need something upgraded. I mean stock is OK to 8500-8600 at most. It’s not terrible but it’s definitely slower lol.

We’ll see. For now the idea is to have a spare ready to go so I don’t miss events and shit. I hate that. Even if it is a stock engine whatever

Decent lap from Wednesday. Stupid GoPro always fucking dies on the fastest laps. I hate that thing.

We can see here. Much wot time. Much driving. This is a quick one. Car makes some serious G’s in a few places too lol. Dayumm
