Building for the road course...again

I live in Baltimore I can fill the box with dog shit

Do you have a junk set of pistons you can send for repairs and then they come back "better"

I’ve got a box of blown up Wiseco pistons lol. I also have some oem Honda pistons hanging around.

I guess the biggest thing is declared value. It’s gotta be low, then just hope they don’t check part numbers

So after talking to everyone and anyone it seems I am looking the same price more or less.

The 25% tariff hits hard. We are talking $1800cad for a set of pistons. ~1400ish without tariffs. This includes some heavy duty wrist pins.

After calling CP directly they hooked me up with a guy who is apparently an expert on shipping pistons to Canada. He has assured me, no need to stress about tariffs. He’s got it all figured out lol.

It’s impressive how many shops are willing to help out but tariffs just fucks all of that up. I do appreciate all these guys willing to hook it up though. If times were different this wouldn’t haven’t taken so long to figure out. What a pain

Yea seriously lol

I will figure something out.
I still can’t believe someone stole my pistons. Wtff

They haven’t shown up on marketplace yet so whoever must be keeping them for himself

Well then. Just gonna say. Someone got some nice stuff here. My scale shows just how high quality this stuff really is. It’s impressive

1 are those heavy duty wrist pins.....
Best pins money can buy for my setup. 0.170” wall, and more importantly 9310 material. I googled it vs the 5100 shit Wiseco had and Google be like “one is for high rpm high HP race engines, one is for oem replacement and street engines”

I shit you not. That was google ai reply lmfao

2 you cant post that picture and not tell the story
There’s a beauty story here. Absolute meant to be type shit

After having my experience and reading yours, you'd have to pay me to use them and I'd still be super hesitant.

Story time.

So Monday I finally received all the CP quotes from my Canadian sources. Everyone was willing to eat some cost but after tariffs and whatnot I was looking at $1800cad+. Insane. Wasn’t gonna pay that.

I wasn’t willing to accept this. I called CP directly. First guy I talked too was like “oh I’m not a Honda guy but let me transfer you to the guy who knows”

This is when I got connected with the guy. The guy who did all the things. We talked. At first he was like you don’t make no HP so wrist pin failure seems odd…then he paused and he goes..it’s an RPM problem isn’t it. All that on and off throttle, the downshifts, it is insane amount of stress on the rod/piston. Rod bolts and wrist pins.

Downshifts are hell for an engine. That piston just wants to leave the engine and the only things holding it back..wrist pin, rod bolts, then connecting rod.

Nothing to cushion or slow the piston. It is just on a mission to leave the stratosphere. Think about compression stroke. That’s a cushion. Power stroke, that’s pushing down which the crank is also pulling in a sense, intake stroke, again aided by the crank pulling, no real stress…then exhaust stroke. Nothing above the piston. It just wants to fly away. No resistance. That force increases exponentially with rpm. It is not linear. Far from. It is up to the rod bolts and wrist pin to stop that piston and completely change its direction. It wasn’t going down on its own of course.

He confirmed my use case was indeed extreme and he hooked me up with the 0.170” wrist pin, 9310 material. Apparently this is as gangster as it gets. Little bit of added weight but it is stronger than fuck which I need.

CP guy hooked me up with his buddy who has a shop and is a major dealer. He is Nippon North America which if you don’t know Nippon and Hastings make just about every piston ring for everything on earth. Every CP piston ships with Nippon piston rings. This dude supplies them.

This guy not only gave me a crazy discount on everything, but I paid $43 shipping, and I paid $22cad in fees and duties. Absolutely insane. He saved me over $400.

This guy assured me I would have 0 issues. He ships to Canada daily he told me and he knows what he’s doing.

Pistons were ordered Tuesday. They arrived today. Holy fuck. From California to Toronto in 2 days.

Side note, these pistons WITH the big pins are approx 5-7grams lighter per hole vs the Wiseco setup with their light pin.

Every single piston, every single pin, weighs exactly the same. Like, dead even. All of them.

That’s quality. That’s engineering. That’s what I paid for.

How my day started today

Can’t stop won’t stop don’t know how to stop!

Also weighed my rods. BC light weight. They real nice. Every rod is exactly 440grams with bolts. Extremely light. I see balancing marks on them so he did balance them but not sure if he had to weight match them or not cause yea. They are bang on.

Hahah. Had a stomach biopsy. I’ve never been put under. What a trip.

Gonna have my buddy come by with his bore gauge and micrometer. We’re gonna measure P2W ourselves. If it’s 3.5thou or less, perfect. Anything more and I’ll need to use my virgin block.

Talked to CP and they said 3thou is the minimum BUT they recommend as close to 3 as possible with 3.5 being max. In NA world we want a little tighter. Less blow by. Less horsepower in the garbage. CP also said I can go beyond 3.5thou if I will be beating on a cold engine.

This tells me they know the cylinder expansion. Impressive. They also have only 2 options for ring gap. Street, and race.

Wiseco comes with a chart that has 20 options on it. Like yes…my high compression pistons are gonna be used for boost…lol. Very universal. I get that it works but it’s also lazy.

As for my tires. I had 6 to pick up but two of em had 2023 date code. Ew. The shops gonna exchange them for something fresher

The tire stack. Still pending a pair of 225/45/17. The shop had them for me but they were 2023 date code so they wouldn’t give them to me. They have reached out to the distributor and are getting me a fresher pair.

This is why I don’t have a turbo. The same guys barely affording their turbo setups are the same guys who cry about how expensive tires are and that their all seasons work just fine….man I hate the internet lol. Tires are like the only thing that matters.

Often, the difference between first place and third place is a fresher set of tires.

so i guess the 225s go on the rear, but whats up with 255 and 245? different classes?
You got it. 225’s for the rear

Different series like to have different rules so competitors can’t easily build for both.

In the one series for my class I’m limited to 245. Other is 255. I will be doing more events where I need 255’s but for the one series, gotta be 245’s.

It’s stupid but in what it is
