Let's talk SS brake lines

Just cut the end line off and re-flare it. You can slowly bend the line out and make a tool fit. Just dont kink it. Replacing lines aren't that bad, but I have a hoist. You can also bend a whole new line end from end. I highly suggest that you don't section a line.

I'm not sure about brake line flaring tools, but I've done lots of flaring in various industrial settings. Cut has to be absolutely square with no burr, that means a good tubing cutter and a good deburring tool. Also need to have the correct set back for the flaring block.

Flares are definitely a case where proper preparation of the tubing and correct tool usage are more important than the tool itself. You can have a bad flare that seals initially then leaks after a little while in service.

Got my stoptechs today will install next week, is it worth draining the entire system of fluid prior to swapping lines or just keep topping the fluid up with a drip pan under the line I'm working on

I use a snap on kit. Comes with everything you need. If you've never done this, I'd suggest getting ahold of someone who does. The cut has to be square, as stated above. Along with deburring, cleaning the line before cutting, correct flare nut, ect. Good news is these are a bubble style flare which is the easiest to do. It doesnt have to be perfect to seal properly.

Maybe I won't try to install mine before the Dragon

I also have had this problem recently. I got one line in on the rear, and gave up before trashing the others. I want to finish this before the dragon, but I dont think its a good idea.

I'm still amazed your cars all hate you so much...haha. Brake lines were a cinch on all the ones I've done.

I'm sure I'll be paying for saying that when I get around to doing the lines on my newly acquired 08...

Yeah if my 2013 fought me, that 2008 could be a serious bitch.

I've done two 2007s, an 08.5, my 09, and a 2010 all with no problems. Plus an 06 MS6. That's why I was so surprised so many people were having issues. My new 08 is a bit rustier than the others, so I'm with you and do think it could be a serious bitch.

Dont know if they salt by you, or if the cars see winter, but thats what does it. 5 years of harsh Michigan salty winters makes every bolt hard to get out.

Still haven't gotten to mine...got my lines and fluid waiting to go...along with pb blaster... We'll see how 2 Canadian winters fair

Lps3, no rust. Although my car technically only saw one winter in Illinois. It still looks good under.

tapatalk, it sucks
