Ok I've been chasing this for 2 weeks. I installed a new k04, and had to adjust tye wastegate because I was only getting g 12psi of boost. I've adjusted it to 20.65 psi and now I'm getting alot of compressor surge. I can't find a leak of any sort. I'm going to pressure test it this weekend . Any1 with suggestions or similar situation?

2008 msp3 stock turbo. With turbo inlet pipe. Front mount, hpfp internals tuned by freektune on e85

I don't understand what you mean by 20 psi. Are you trying to I crease max boost pressure? You need a tune for that

So I replaced a k04 with a k04 and I'm going to have to get it tuned again

Yes. When I out this new turbo/ wastegate on my car it only made 12psi on my e85 tune. So I adjusted the wasegate to achieve my previous 21ish psi at wot. Now the wastegate is so tight I get compressor surge. So I need to back the wastegate rod back out until my bov is working and have my car retuned?

It wasn't clear if you were trying to match the old or increase if you are trying to match you "shouldn't" need a new tune. Is it a new orm ko4 or is it Chinese rebuilt?

You might be able to get there by playing with the adjustments on the wastegate but if the turbos are too different you won't be able to perfectly match

Did you break the ebcs nipple? A common occurrence when dealing with the OEM boost controller.

12 psi sounds like spring pressure which is why I ask, would leave me to believe something's up with the ebcs. Or it's piping

You absolutely need to back off the waste gate tension

I did break the old ecbs. I bought a new 1 from oreillys and installed it. I bought the turbo from factory turbocharger.

If I have the 2 lines on the ecbs backwards would that cause issue?

I can't find a correct picture at the moment but you need to make sure the ebcs is hooked up correctly before you go driving around

I found a couple pictures where someone else was asking for assistance and posted pictures of his set up. Looks like the wastegste us on the nipple closest to the front of the car or plug. That's how mine is now and was before. Now only 15psi amd compressor surge

Maybe I also should note that this is all happening during the shift. Not during the pull. Only when I let off the accelerator to shift.

I'm gonna make a piece to do leak test this weekend. I've gone over the whole system and can't find a leak by examining couplings or anything . The bov was fine when I removed the old turbo. I can depress it with my finger and it returns back.
