Hi !

I had done a leak down test yesterday and finally I have a lost of 40% on my cylinder #3 here the number :

cyl 1 : 95%
cyl 2 : 94%
cyl 3 : 60%
cyl 4 : 94%

So a rebuild is needed ...

I want to know what should I modified to avoid another problem in my cylinder 3 ... here the stuff I will order :

- GTX2867 + Tuned
- JBR Tru-3.0 Wide Path Full Aluminum Intake System
- Corksport Injector Seal
- JBR Under Piping + TR8
- JMF Intake Manifold
- FullRace - Exhaust Manifold
- BSD
- Upgrade Boost Controller
- Supertech P4-MAS88-10H13 - Pistons
- Supertech CR-MZR23T-H150.7 - Rods
- Multiple parts : Stage 3 MZR Motor Build Kit MS3/MS6 2006-2013

If you have suggestion about parts ... or something else (I'm here to learn)

I want to build something solid for a long time ...

I haven't heard of supertech Pistons or rods before....who makes those? Also I'd go with HTP underroute piping, and the Damond Motorsports ST mani. And HTP 3.5" intake.
 
is it true if I go with these modification :

FullRace Exhaust Manifold
JMF Intake Manifold
BSD

I have modz that will help my rebuild engine to avoid the problem I got on my cylinder #3 in stock form engine???
 
The intake manifold, yes. Exhaust manifold I'm not sure, I don't really think so. And BSD I don't know, I've never read anything like that before nor heard about that but I guess theoretically it's possible. Also I would look into some different Pistons/rods, ones that have been proven on the plateform.

The BSD should help push an even amount of oil pressure into cyl 3. Both for the squirter and bearings i think the oil passage for the balance shaft assembly shares the same oil passage as Cyl 3. Could be wrong cant remember off the top of my head. That can and has been an issue. Better flowing intake manifold is the most common concern as it looks like you already know. Also, routine meticulate maintenance.

it's why I ask all about this ... because if I rebuild and don't want to live this again ... I want to correct everything that could bring this problem

Exhaust manifold is it a most ... to avoid this problem too and avoid any imbalance to the cylinder #3 ???
 
I agree with @djohns, BSD does not do anything other than increase oil capacity. There is no data on the BSD adding any longevity to the engine.

Most people would do the BSD for the extra cooling from the increased oil capacity so if you are tracking it would be worth while.

If you want to balance the flow you need to do it on both ends to do it right, so IM and EM would be the correct way to balance the flow.

Which EM doing the perfect job to balance the exhaust part of the engine ???

Oh no! What happened? Was there a particular "event" you can remember that you suspect? Or were you running a radical tune? Miles on engine? I'm just curious because causes of needing a rebuild are very valuable information, even though the community has already learned a lot. Genwon or Genpu?

Just an observation: a local, very reputable engine shop all-but-insists on doing BSDs on all their build specifically because of oil control reasons. They are convinced the BSD is necessary for even oil distribution throughout the cylinders/squirters. The added oil capacity is an added benefit, but the main point is oil distribution, according to them. Just .02 from people who have a lot of engine-building experience on the platform, FWIW.

That's pretty interesting. What shop is it? I'm assuming they've built multiple speeds?

Kool Katz, in Dallas. Yep, they've built multiple. They just finished one local and are starting another local. They've done numerous others, and IIRC, they have owned Speeds too. @Chpspd @VoodooJef and other DFW folks can tell you more about it.
 
They all but specialize in Speeds. One of their techs owns the fastest Speed 3 in Texas, which says a LOT. He`s right on Brasil`s heels.

I don't why I got this ... I had been pro-tune so it's suppose to be better than the OEM MAP, 163 000km, GenWon.

maybe LSPI ...

I search a lot but I got a lot of miss thinking about IM, EM, BSD if it's good or not ... so I don't know what I must do the have a stronger engine and eliminate the weakess part of our engine ....
 
I didn't want BSD or EGR delete, but they were pretty insistent about it and they don't seem to be bullshitters. They've taken care of a lot of minor issues for me for basically the cost of the parts.

Same. granted I opted for EGR delete when I did the turbo but I didn`t want BSD. They said the entire rotating assembly from the pulley to the clutch would be balanced together so it wouldn`t be an issue. Justin was pretty forthcoming with his opinion of that.
