So I’m tuned just on straight 94, as there’s no e85 in Canada where I’m at. I’m GT3071 though as I’m sure you read here. More power = more heat. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was running around last summer with 300f oil temps and no oil pressure lol. Damn. My new setup just arrived so I’ll be posting up about that soon!

in terms of track tune, I let my tuner know what I was planning to do with the car and as heat increases boost and timing decreases. It’s probably a little aggressive but that’s how I wanted it.

I can help you out with the files although I will say they are for personal use only!

Cool, cool, not a problem! Guess we should indeed get a room :tearsofjoy:

Why don't you two get a room

Alright folks, time for a bit of an update here...

visited the track on sunday, not my usual track but this track is FAR more fun, more challenging and the elevation is amazing.

i spent saturday doing some prep for my sunday track day.
pulled my hpfp apart and took a look, it was definitely gummed up with some junk, so i pulled it all apart and gave it a good soaking in some redline SL-1, scrubbed it down a bit then reassembled.

some minor scoring here, these internals are old and have seen some shit for sure.

with that taken care of, i replaced one of my fog light funnels for the brake ducts, one seemed to have broken, not sure when or how but that was a simple fix.

Up at 5:20AM sunday morning to make it to the track for 7am, check in, attend drivers meeting, and setup shop for the day.

tent city/squad for the day(that evo is an absolute weapon and buddy is a seriously skilled driver)

Helmets ready to go now!

the driver of this number 666 corvette...i bought my speed off of him almost 5 years ago now!

So the thing with this track...its all about mechanical grip here, tires, suspension, and using your brain. there are MANY corners that you think you can brake later and later at, but you cant. braking early actually works better. I went to this track once last summer, and now again. biggest thing i noticed with the bilsteins was the lack of body roll, and the mid corner grip. I was running out of gear in places i wasnt last year. means greater corner exit speed. this is amazing! my driving was struggling today for sure though, still shaking off the cobwebs

RS4 tires, bilstein coilovers, G-Loc brakes, and my brake ducts all put in a serious amount of work. good thing i chose wisely on parts selection...
Ducts are making a VERY noticeable improvement. Lap after lap, the pedal did get a bit longer, but stopping power was still STRONG. this is good news. ducts work! usually when id finish my event the drive home my brake pedal would be long, and until i flushed it again it would suck. well second track day, havent touched the fluid, and the pedal is still FIRM after 2 events. amazing.

first 3 sessions of the day were nice and cool, air temp was cool but sun was out, it was around 24-26c(75-79f) and coolant temps, and oil temps were perfect. As the day progressed, it got hotter out, 30c(86f) and i started pushing harder. oil quickly reached 275+ and that was the rest of my day. managing heat. its ok...new oil cooler has arrived...and omg...youll see.

now time for one of my not so finest moments...corvette frustration. this guy was freaking driving me crazy and i lost it. the correct thing to do? go in pit, and come back out but since these were only 15 minute sessions i didnt want to waste 5 minutes doing that so...

heres me pushing too hard, braking too late, and losing to this deceiving corner

heres a better video,

some pics,

suspension compression is cool yo

IMG_6333.JPG
34 rows of setrabs finest, IM NOT FUCKING AROUND HERE(13" macbook for size reference) this CORE is 2" thick, 10.25" tall, and 11.25" wide. its massive. installing this will be fun. also, for those who know, what sorta hose should i go with? stainless braided is nice but $$$$...maybe nylon braided? or just push lock stuff?

thats all for now!!

Man that looks just as frustrating as my morning commute! Were they running classes cause it seemed like you were much faster than the other cars

That red corvette in the first video needs some serious lessons in track ettiquite.

LOL at the porsche that slid off track

How was that grey Supra on the track?

the Supra is a weapon on track. Seriously quick. I couldn’t keep up or catch him at all. It looked mostly stock, but must’ve had some serious driver mod!

Two run groups, no idea how they sorted it though. Upon registration they asked for horse power and I think I put like 320-330 or something. Only 1 of my buddies(that white evo x) was in my run group and he told me he put 315hp for horse power. We’re thinking they grouped based on power which sucked for sure.

Welp,

wasn’t planning to buy new tires this year. Looking like I might have to. Shiiiittttt. I guess this ain’t bad for 9 track days and about 10k street miles which included lots of pulls, hard stops, and hard cornering.

I have a set of half cooked re71 that’ll get me two more track days. After that these rs4’s might give me one more track day?

So, RS4’s again? Or does anyone have another tire they’d suggest I run for street/track use?

How hot is it up where you are? I loved my 615k+ fantastic turn in and grip. Now that the Azenis 660 is our those might be an option.
PS4S wore better than the azenis and held up to the heat better.
Yokohama has a new ADVAN out, hit really high marks on tire racks testing.
