DIY Port injection set up

Do you think fuel filter's may be required as iv been reading about pre and post ones ?

Im using Injector dynamics ID1000 injectors. I dont have a link to where I bought them, because I got them off a local. But if you just web search you should be able to find them no issues. You dont have to use that brand though, any 48 mm injectors. You can get adapters for the plugs so thats no big deal which ever they are (but the split second controller comes with EV1 plugs I think)
 
Not to revive an oldish thread I’m trying to go this route as well. I currently ran a 6th port setup but ran out of fuel so I’m looking to do the st mani with the Damond pi. Now is it possible to run returnless on this setup or is that asking for trouble? I have a aem 50-1220 pump that’s good for 320lph at 43psi.

Yeah I think returnless is possible, but if you are already maxing out a 6th port system, I would guess you are at the limit. Luckily, its really not too bad to make the system returned. the hardest part is fittings in the stock basket, which really you could just use the stock feed line still as it is, and just run your own return. (I chose to run the stock line as the return but that meant no using a drop in pump)

You might have to calculate the stock feed line size to see if its big enough for your goals, should be easy enough to do.

Well my setup was made by SpeedPerf6rmanc3 and had a custom Squash tophat... So that might be difficult to replicate on your own.

-6an feed line though and then the return was through the stock feed.

@Maisonvi hey bro, are you interested in selling/making one of your walbro 450 mounts? I'm pretty much copying your setup, many guys said to run surge tank but not nuff funds for that, I've seen justin@freektune did his walbro, like just drop it and zip tied? Will that work? And just drilling top hat for return? Sounds simple but feels like I'm missing something lol

I would have to see if I took measurements of how i did it. If you plan on using a 450 didnt use the stock feed line for it. My feed was the one I added, and the stock was the return. Really drilling the basket for the feed wasnt bad, but figuring out fittings was a bit of an issue, mostly because I ordered the wrong one, and just ended up making my own.

I havent had a need for a surge tank even tracking my car multiple times on this set up. I dont make crazy power (just over 500 on my 3076) but everything seems great so far. lots of DD and a track time without problems. That said, a surge tank is probably the better solution, but I did this to try something out and it worked.

@Clintonicms3 post 22 in here is how I mounted it in the basket and how I did the feed line. If you need more pics I can dig up anything I have.
 
@Maisonvi thanks for the reply bro, yeah I've been reading ton of setup and I figure I'll go with this route, intank walbro 450>inline filter>tee>hpfp/pi rail>fpr> return (stock feed line converted to return. My only concern right now is how I'm going to mount the 450 in tank, and for the wiring Ill prolly just use a relay and use the oem wire as signal and pump is direct to the battery. My other option is nate from newage the new upcoming kit they are making have surge tank for $2150, that is regulated surge tank from radium.

This was the plan I have in place now. I found it from an older (apparently) SP36 document. Made sense to me at the time as a good way to do it.

Seems like the second way is how most people run it. I was under the impression the first way would work as well, especially with me having small injectors for the PI system.

Ok, I wrote up all the parts I used and how I laid everything out. The only thing I dont have is the compression fittings as I bought them locally, but they are just 6an male to 5/16 compression fittings. (if you cant find them let me know and I will look up a part number)

Ignore the lengths and what not of the lines, I just used what space I had available on the page. I think the hose going from the basket to the HPFP was like 10 ft, the rail to the FPR was like 3, and then another 2 to the fire wall. Depends on how you route it, but I think I used about 15 ft total. Kinda a guess at this point tough.

All the fittings and hose were ordered from here (and thus the part numbers) it was the cheapest I could find at the time for the fittings I wanted. https://www.verociousmotorsports.com/

As far as parts I made, the holder for the Walbro is mine, and then I had to modify the bulk head fitting to make it work as a hose fitting. There might be a fitting out there that just does this, I just had this one and made it work. I did have to trim out the inside of the basket to get a flat spot to mount the bulkhead fitting. I did it with a razor blade and a dremel tool. Easy work. Ive attached pictures of what I did in case I haven't posted them before.

So I have a fuel pump in tank that fit in stock location do I have to modify all this to my basket to make this work? What’s confusing is using the stock feed line to return fuel. I’m being dumb af but I guess I’m just a little confused about that. Thank you for all your help and insight and part numbers you’ve been a tonnn of help @Maisonvi

In your case you would use the stock feed line and connect to the firewall just like I have but go to the HPFP instead of the regulator. And then from the regulator you would go back to the tank with a DIY return line. I can draw up a diagram tomorrow when I'm back at work (where I saved this file)

It's all the same bits, but different routing
